My son and his friend damaged a hallway in their apartment building, in Nov. 2021; they were residents at the time. I acknowledge his action of kicking a hole in a wall was stupid. My son was told to move out by the end of Dec. 2021, which he did. The security deposit we put down for possible damage would cover the expense of repairing the hole. We never received a bill for additional damages or any justification (proof) of expenses to fix the hole. My next communication was a bill for $560 from a collection agency in March 2022 - I was stunned and angry given that Aspen Heights never once reached out to me for payment. Mr. Patel refused to take my phone calls or respond to emails only referring me to corporate. The corporate office claims Patel sent me a bill, and a letter with an additional move out fee (I am not sure why) yet I received nothing, not one letter, nor one email, which given the comments left by other complaints, seems to be a problem for Mr. Patel. The corporate office presented me with a bill for over 8K not for repair of the hole only but "dumpster rental, insulation repair, door frame replacement, and sealing the entire floor" - what does that have to do with drywall repair of a wall? I would like proof of all the documentation Mr. Patel claims he sent, with the dates, proof of correspondence and receipts of the drywall repair alone, and for him to cancel his complaint with the collection agency. He has damaged my excellent credit by not responsibly contacting me first.Initial Complaint

Upon move in for the 20-21 year, the apartment was not completed as promised. It was still under construction and my daughter did not have access to the amenities she was promised at move in, for at least 3 weeks. The deposit was waived as part of the move in special. When she moved out, she performed all the required move out duties. I was then sent an email stating she owed money due to damages, ironically the same amount of the initial deposit, that was waived. The damages consisted of painting, apartment not clean and 1 bag of trash not removed. The main living area was never painted upon move in. The walls only had primer on them. They are charging us for what should have already been completed upon move in. I have asked multiple times for proof of these "damages", with no response. I have been trying to dispute this and have since been turned into collections. I cannot get anyone to return my emails and when I try to call, it places me on hold then hangs up. I have reached out to the collection agency to dispute this, and they stated they needed it in writing with proof the damages did not occur. Aspen has disabled all access to the parent/student portal which stores all information in regard to my daughters time there. I have no way to access any information, but yet they are going to fraudulently scam money out of me or it's going on my credit report. This is very poor business and I highly suggest no one do any business with Aspen Heights. I am demanding this to be resolved, closed out and not affect my credit.
