On Aug 24, 2023 I stopped at Tesla of Knoxville. I was greeted by Kevin, a sales associate. I told Kevin I’d be interested in trading in our Tesla Model 3 for a Model Y but I needed to know what they’d give me in trade. Kevin took the photos and submitted the info to Tesla on my behalf. He reached out later in the day and said they’d give me $23 thousand and something (I did not retain the info because I felt the offer was too low). On Sept 13 I called into Tesla, asked for Kevin, introduced myself and he vaguely remembered me. I againsaid I wanted to trade. He sent me a link to get a trade in estimate. The estimate came back at $27,900. Based on Kevin’s original input, plus the email received on 9/13 I went forward to purchase a Model Y. I filled in the paperwork, put down my non refundable $250 deposit and resubmitted the trade in info. Tesla came back and said they’d give us $19,100. A far cry from either of the prior 2 estimates. I told Tesla to cancel the order and refund our deposit. They said they’d cancel the order but not refund the money. This is clearly a scam. These deceitful business practices cannot be allowed. Also, since cancelation occurred less than 48 hrs after initial sales contract I feel there should be some consumer protection. I do plan to contact the consumer protection agency as well. Also, our states attorney general.Customer response

Tesla of Knoxville contacted me this morning. They apologized for a mistake made on their side. They have corrected it and I am completely satisfied. Thank you.
