I have been a customer of Massage Envy for the past 7 years. During this time I have been paying a monthly subscription fee of ****** per month. I have no complaints about the first couple years however starting around 2020, "the beginning of covid" I began to have a very difficult time getting and setting an appointment. I was understanding for the first year and a half following the covid outbreak because of all the new guidelines etc. so I kept my subscription and continued to be a customer. Over the past couple of years I have continued to have difficulty getting and scheduling massage appointment. This has resulted in my accruing 23 hours *********** of massage credits which I now have. I have tried to go along with this and use some of my hours before I cancel my membership however my last three appointments have been cancelled by massage envy for one reason or another. 1) there are many locations to use my credits however, the locations outside of my primary location are disincentives to take my appointments because of how massage envy shares commissions etc causing them to give preference to customers who opened their contracts at their location and showing the time as full when they really are not full. 2) they have a freeze option which I am currently under and this only last 6 months. The cost for this is *** per month and during this time I am able to use my remaining 23 hours, however they will only reserve 1 appointment per month in advance. 3) they have a great app where you can schedule and reserve appointments however it has been made known to me that the stores purposely don't post all the available appointments this way they can hold some back incase someone who opened their account at their specific location calls in they can use that open appointment for them. With all the stores incentivized to work this way it makes finding open appointments on the app almost impossible.

I've been a member of MASSAGE ENVY on Northshore in Knoxville for many years. I had a good experience for most of that time. When they sold this franchise a few months ago everything went downhill. The new owner (I'm told they are out of St Louis and have 100+ stores) failed to apply for the necessary licenses to operate in Knox Cty so they had to shut down for two weeks. That was cancellation #1. (you would think owning 100 stores they'd know what license is needed to operate). Apparently when this happened they decided not to pay the employees so most of them quit. You couldn't get an appointment for months but they were still taking your money every month. I had so many credits built up after Covid I decided to remain and get facials as you only have 60 days to use your credits after quitting. Now I suppose those folks are quitting two because I've had two facials cancelled in the last month. My advise is to steer clear of MASSAGE ENVY. The store on Northshore is a train wreck. When it was locally owned it was fine but these out of town owners don't care because they don't have to face the public every day. One of the employees told me that they were told that they were taking new clients first for appointments because they wanted to increase enrollment. Obviously I've canceled my membership and won't be returning. They scammed me for one visit as I've asked for a refund I'm sure I'll never see but at least they can't continue to take my money while providing no service!
