I recently rented a property through Douglas Lake Vacations, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. From the beginning, there were numerous issues that significantly impacted the quality of our vacation. Firstly, the property did not match the description provided online. Pictures below of advertised and then picture of when we arrived. Key amenities were either missing or not functioning properly, which was extremely disappointing given the high expectations set by the listing. Unsafe passage by any age. Secondly, despite multiple attempts to reach out and resolve these issues, and we received no compensation for the numerous inconveniences we faced during our stay. The lack of communication and customer service was frustrating and unacceptable. Additionally, the property was advertised with a dock and accessible hike to the lake, but these features were either in poor condition or not as described. We have posted pictures that clearly show the state of the dock and the supposed accessible hike to the lake, which were far below acceptable standards. Our vacation was supposed to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience, but it turned out to be quite the opposite due to these issues. I urge anyone considering a rental with Douglas Lake Vacations to be cautious and ensure that all details are confirmed and verified before booking. The Property Management even tried to bribe us, see picture below. The outside fire pit chairs were ALL broken. Overall, this experience has left us very disappointed, and we will not be using their services again. *********************Pictures available on google review site***********Review from Tammy B

After speaking with the owner twice about my reservation, I finally spoke to the VRBO headquarters to have the reservation canceled. We could travel on the dates we had a reservation for. I am the customer and the owner was very rude and hateful. She said, " You made the reservation, you cancel the reservation ". When I told her I could not get into the account she laughed. She has since flagged me as rude and disrespectful when SHE is in the business to help people which she obviously cannot do. She has zero professionalism for her job. The VRBO headquarters were kind and very helpful. Last thing, this lady sent me a voice mail staring to " go ahead and file a complaint and good luck with that". I have never been treated so rude by a person who is in a professional job. I want others to be very careful dealing with her. She is definitely not professional and will try to scam you and keep your money.

Hello and too whom it may concern, I absolutely remember this phone call on 8/19 remember it as if it was yesterday. She called I answered and she gave me her reservation # number. I then looked her reservation up . She said she wanted to cancel her reservation. I then said ma'am you will need to cancel on your Vrbo account. She got mad when I said she would need to cancel it herself.She stated she had tried and could not get it canceled. I then advised her to contact Vrbo to have them cancel it for her. She got mad because I could not cancel a Vrbo booking on their site. I was as nice as I possible! She got mad because I could not cancel the reservation. She did threaten me with turning me in with the BBB and I did tell her were not a member of the BBB and yes I did flag her she was very very rude to me. I don't mind to help but the way she talked to me was uncalled for. Somethings just can't be fixed.Customer Response

I am very disappointed in this business and would never bother calling them again. I want others to be aware of the rude, unprofessional person she really is. Be aware of a lion in a sheep's clothing. She wouldn't know how to say the word ma'am or use it correctly. She told me "good luck" reporting her. Obviously, some people have no idea treating customers professionally gains business.Douglas Lake Vacations Response

Ma'am, You can say what you wish, However I did try to help you and you did not like that I could not cancel your reservation. However I see that you got with vrbo and they did cancel your reservation. I'm certainly happy they assisted you. If they would have helped you the first time you tried reaching out to them you would not had been so angry with me.
