Southern Blue Construction did a six figure renovation for our house and we thought for months everything was great. The work was going well and we were happy until the end when we had some issues with a leak behind a wall where a washer/dryer was moved to. Being a person that tries to give others the benefit of the doubt and time, we made our contractor ****** Hall aware of the issue. ****** stated he would have one of his guys come out to look, no fix or idea so suggested we get a plumber to take a look. I worked with a licensed plumber who has been in business with family for years who told me that the studor vent behind the wall should not have been done and the drain/vent needing to go up and out of roof. I did not have him fix it as wanted to speak with ****** about the issue. I then started to contact ****** over a period of 3 months with no return text or calls, then finally I was told he would have someone come out. He then had someone come out who said it was the drainage at our house being old and although not even same part of house something I needed to replace. I would of been fine with that resolution at the beginning of the problem, but going on 5 months of water pouring out of the wall, causing mold, floors warping and no idea about behind the wall. ****** told me this was not in scope of my contract, but it was never even made aware to me that would be issue or we would of resolved at the time. The wall is still torn up from the last time they were out and he told me nothing will be paid for from him and at this time I will have to go through his lawyer. I would prefer to never write one of these but I would hate for someone to spend any funds with this business and not know how it will go. I would of been happy with some time of mutual resolution at the beginning, but months of no follow up and water leaking behind a wall with no care from contractor is not what others should deal with.

Dear Better Business Bureau,We appreciate the opportunity to address the concerns raised in the recent customer review. We believe it's crucial to provide a comprehensive perspective on the situation to ensure transparency and clarity. In early 2023, we completed a renovation for the Sellers, who, at the time, expressed their satisfaction through a positive ******** review and a thoughtful gift of whiskey. Following the completion of our punch list, which the customer acknowledged by settling the final bill, we received subsequent calls regarding an issue with the washing machine not draining. Our contractual obligations included installing a new washer box onto an existing hookup in the home. Our signed contracted scope of work did not have any pipes under the home or behind the walls being altered or replaced. The issue the customer is having is outside the agreed-upon scope, we went above and beyond, attempting to address the problem by inspecting and repairing issues within the existing plumbing beneath the house. This extended to replacing over 10 feet of cast iron pipes installing a p-trap where there was not one and installing a studor vent where there was no venting on the existing washer hookup, utilizing snaking and camera inspectionsall of which were not included in the original contract, nor were they billed to the customer. This work was performed in good faith due because of the good relationship we had developed with the homeowner. With limited success in resolving the issue, we recommended engaging a third-party plumber. Subsequently, our licensed plumber determined that the plumbing under that section of the home required 3" pipes instead of the existing 2". When this information was communicated to the customer, a request was made for us to cover the entire cost even though this was an existing issue within their home and not an obligation per our terms. In an attempt to ease the customer's frustration and help a good customer, we offered to cover half of the cost. Regrettably, our proposal was declined.During discussions about financial responsibility, we faced threats of legal action and online reputation damage. In light of this, and upon legal advice, we decided to cease further contact with the customer. We take pride in our commitment to customer satisfaction and always strive to go above and beyond. While we regret any inconvenience experienced by the Sellers, we want to assure the Better Business Bureau and our customers that our actions were guided by a dedication to fairness and adherence to contractual agreements.Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to provide our perspective on this matter.Sincerely,****** Hall Southern Blue Construction ***
