      Made a dental appointment on 4/5/23 and was already accepted by their staff that my **************** was accepted there , gave them my ID number and group information to verify. After the cleaning and X-rays I was told that I only owed $25 for some type of Fluoride treatment that was extra. I paid in full all that was my part that the insurance didn't approve. In May of 2024 I was sent a bill for $367 for cleaning and X-rays . I informed ********* on 5/17/24 that my insurance was to cover that part. She stated that she would file my insurance again . Talked to her again on 5/24/24 to see if everything was approved. She said that there must have been some mistake that they didn't accept my insurance. I told her that I came by before my appointment and gave them all my insurance information and that everything was pre-approved before my appointment.Got a reply back from American Family Dentistry after giving them a bad review on their website stating they wanted to discuss the details of my review a couple of weeks later. Called them up and they said even though they made the mistake I was still responsible for the bill. How could they check my insurance twice , once before the cleaning and at the time of the procedure to say that all I was responsible since they didn't take my insurance.

      I initially came in for a cap impression and cleaning, got the impression done for the cap waited for weeks and I had to call the office to get an update that the cap was lost in the mail. No one called at all. So I came back to get the impression done again! Guess what I had to call again to see if the second impression came in because again no one followed up or even made an appointment. You would think it would be a priority. Since ************* has retired from this facility, the customer service at this ********************** Facility is very poor! They are very unprofessional, I paid for this cap in full and cannot get a simple call for a cap impression that has taken 2 months. I wouldnt come here again! If you paid me!

      I had a dental emergency that required extraction. She extracted the tooth. It was horrible. I could feel the maneuver and her changing instruments. The toothe came out in several tooth ( it also had a crown). She prescribed Solumedrol and Ibuprofen 800 mg which I believe was okay. I went home and the anesthetic began wearing off and I had the worst pain, worst than labor pains. I called back and she denied to address my pain. I called abpit 3-4 times to get help, I told her my pain was 10/10. I told her I was not a substance abuser I have the means of obtaining drugs through my credential if I wanted to use, ( I have a DEA number too). She told me "prescribe it for yourself" "I called her out on her statement and she later said she didi not have privilege to prescribe controlled substance. I asked if anyone in her office could prescribe even Ultram or Tylenol#3. She denied me pain control and told me that my extraction was not difficult and did not take her 30 minutes. I alternate Ibuprofen with Tylenol. I cant eat, am in pain and is prescribed 800 mg IBU. I used ensure and whey protein shakes to take my medications but that did not help. After 2 doses of Ibuprofen I had unbearable stomach pain and had to discontinue the medication. The prescription of Solumedrol is not routinely prescribed after extraction and indicates it was a more complex extraction. The tooth came out in fragments. I had a crown on it too. I asked her if any bone was involved and she hesitated and then said "I shaved a little" The consent form was illegible and I told her and she said "Its the same thing I explained" The homecare instruction is also illegible. I did my own research as she flat out told me "I cant do anything about dry socket" when asked. This AFD is the one on Highway 64. This mis not standard of practice and this dentist has given the establishment a bad wrap. I advocate for patient care my entire career and to be treated this way is a disgrace

      Poor Business Practice & Billed Improperly January 2022.
      I had a crown done in January by Dr. H***** and the staff. My mother paid $1,500.00. My insurance paid $1,300.00. My portion was $344.00 out of pocket. American Family Dentistry has not issued me a refund. When I spoke to the business office today, the lady said I may still owe money. I am with ***** and should not have had to pay over a deductible, in my opinion. I am not a satisfied customer. I asked the office manager to resolve this by March. I probably will not continue with this dentist.
