On Aug 1, I called this company and asked if they could replace a damaged key fob for my particular make and model of car. The guy that answered the phone ("Tech 1" for reference in this complaint) stated that he'd make a call, find out and call me back. He called back and said yes. We made arrangements to meet at my car that evening. I caught an Uber to my vehicle. They met me there. After Tech 2 tried for about an hour, Tech 1 walked up to my car and asked him if he wanted him to call someone for assistance (I didn't hear the name of the person that he said he'd call) and Tech 2 said yes. Shortly afterwards Tech 1 walks back over and says aloud, " ma'am you're gonna have to take it to Land Rover". At that point Tech 2 says " man, why didn't you tell me that before we came out here". Tech 1 then walked up to me and said "so yeah, that'll be $160, were not gonna charge you the full price, just for the service call". I said "$160! Why would you have me catch and Uber here when I called you first and you verified? Why didn't you call whomever you just called just now?!" He then stated that it wasn't his fault and that he didn't know that he couldn't do it. After noticing that Tech 2 wasn't getting out of my car I agreed to pay via Zelle. Tech 1 then got in his vehicle and stated that he'd call around to try to find someone for me. Tech 2 gave me a ride home. The next morning, Aug 2, I called 6-8 other locksmiths whom all told me, immediately, that they couldn't service my type of car. I texted Tech 1 and asked that he put me in contact with whomever is in charge, that I feel that they took advantage of me and that I'd be filing a complaint for my own protection. His text response was alarming and seemed somewhat threatening. They know my car, license plate, where I live and the location of my employer and this frightens me after reading his reply. I am attaching proof of payment along with the screenshots of our text thread.
