Dear BBB, On the evening of July 29th, 2022, my semi-truck had a flat tire while traveling through Murfreesboro, TN. Because my driver was loaded with agricultural products on route to a delivery in Florida, we contacted Tennessee Truck & Trailer Repair LLC (EIN XX-XXXXXXX) for roadside assistance and spoke to the owner, **** ******** Initially, **** provided us a work order with a rate of $145/hr with a 2hr minimum, $60 flat fee, and a $1.00/mi rate to come to us. Additionally, **** gave my driver and myself and estimate of ~$350 - $400 to perform the repair (tire cost separate). This estimate met the average rate for a roadside assistance and thus we agreed to the repair. Unfortunately, once the repair was complete, **** sent us a final invoice of $1883.02 which now included multiple fees that were not disclosed nor mentioned prior to the repair. To our surprise, there was a $140 markup fee on the tire for no reason, $435 "after hour service fee", tire disposal fee of $25, additional mileage fee of $6.00, 4% on debit card transactions (not a credit card), and an additional 2% municipality tax fee. In total, there were approximately $650 extra for undisclosed fees. The tire was $913.75 and he charged $969.27 just for 30 minutes of labor to replace 1 tire. Moreover, he used a subcontractor to do the job and only paid them/him $200 to do the actual work. As a result, I called **** to discuss these charges given the UNETHICAL and opportunistic nature of his business practices. Not only was he rude and threatened to remove the tire, but given our situation, he took full advantage of the circumstances to force payment. I'm a mechanical/aerospace engineer and my company has been in the trucking industry for 4.5yrs. Throughout my entire career, I have not encountered a business that takes advantage of customers at this level. Tennessee Truck & Trailer Repair and his owner **** ******** are a threat/cancer to the trucking industry and consumers as a whole.
