Vendor was solicited to provide estimate to apply chip and seal to portion of a residential driveway. Representative ************************* arrived and provided a verbal estimate for 2 Coats ( per practice of ALL competitors) at a price of $4500 for the agreed portion of the driveway configured on an incline. Estimate was provided on or about October 19th 2023 and work commenced on October 23rd 2023. During the installation, a conversation took place with the representative regarding the 2 coats and I was advised that based on the application process being executed, only a single coat was necessary and a verbal warranty was provided in the event there were issues with the product after the installation. Additionally, I communicated to the representative that the petroleum product that was being installed appeared thin and tackless, more similar to motor oil than tar. I was assured that a single coat and the product that was being installed was standard and adequate for application on a hillside driveway. I was also informed that this product is frequently used in public thoroughfare applications applied by transportation departments for public roads with a life expectancy of 5 to 7 years. An additional concern was noted per the excess gravel remaining loose after the completed Installation. The recommended curing time of 1 week was exceeded by more than 3 days before traffic and within a month to 6 weeks it was noted that in the normal track area of vehicle tires the gravel was not only churned in several places on the hill, but that in several areas the recently installed product had been removed to the base terrain after minimal normal traffic of personal passenger vehicles at a property with virtuallly no guests. In December I began contacting the company to communicate the issue and request communication to discuss a resolution. As of this date, 3 attempts have been made to contact management of the organization with messages left with administration with no response.
