I put a down payment on a steel carport cover for a camper with a vendor in ** for Max ******************** Buildings. Max ******************** made me jump through hoops to send different photos then cut down some trees then they tell me they can't put it up because there are probably roots from the trees. Max ******************** told me to get my money from the ** vendor and that vendor won't even return my calls.

ordered a two car carport with 10 foot interior clearance form dealer for camper. dealer was unable to print receipt and contract due to computer and card reader issues. after product was installed we found out it only had 8 feet interior clearance. Asked installers about raising Hight they replied longer arms could be installed to fix issue. Contacted dealer, dealer advised to contact main company. after much run around, main company contact stated we would lose deposit and they would come remove building rather than repair. we already had to pay extra to the crews working on site due to the fact installers showed up one day early to install date. so now we will be out deposit and all extra money spent to get site ready. it has taken two week of calling and being blown off ,now only response is we are at fault and they will come and take building down.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/09/14) */ MaxSteel Buildings built your structure according to your signed sales contract. The size was personally verified again with you by us prior to installation. You ordered a 24' x 21'x 6' Regular roof style carport which was then installed on your property. After the building was installed and Upon learning that you would like a taller side height, we offered for $1000 (at our cost) to remove the existing side posts and replace them with taller side posts which involves taking down the building and rebuilding it. This is a difficult and labor intensive process. You declined that offer. While it is regrettable that you are not happy with the building you ordered, MaxSteel's position remains the same. MaxSteel asserts the building was designed and installed per signed contract.

I had ordered a 28x28 foot building thru the vendor for Max steel buildings provided needed documentation and photos of the property and placed initial deposit , at that time I asked if the vendor wanted to physically view the property to make sure there was no issues, they at that time stated "no we only need photos Maxsteel called shortly after to set up the install and collect 1/2 of the remaining balance, which I paid . I again asked if they wanted to come out and view the property before the installers came , they said no. When the installers came (subcontractors) they could not install the full building and instead installed a 23x28 foot building the person on the phone stated it was not there fault , It was my fault that the building would not fit (the entire process was video taped) when the install was complete I had several issues with the install and the damage the installers caused to my concrete, the installers stated that I would not need to pay (they were supposed to collect when finished) and they would return the next day to make the needed repairs and adjustments , the installers never returned , now 6 months later they want to collect the full amount for the 28x28 building but I only have a 23x28 building with damaged and defective roll up doors and damaged concrete I would issues payment for the smaller building in a final amount of $4,000 US dollars but no one has addressed my issues , Please help to resolve this matter Thanks ***

      12/06/2021

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2021/11/29) */ The customer ordered a 28x28x12 fully enclosed building on 4/17/2021. Prior to placing an order, it is the customer's sole responsibility to perform sufficient due diligence (i.e., accurately measure the install location dimensions) to ensure the ordered building is correct. MaxSteel nor its dealers are under any obligation to visit or measure a customer's job site. During verification, the customer also stated there was 2' of level clearance around the building for the installation crew to use their ladders. The independent installation crew arrived at the customer's job site on 5/6/2021. The crew measured the job site for levelling and construction purposes. The crew determined the ordered building would not fit into the space allocated by the customer. The customer was on-site and directed the on-site installation activities. The customer was given the opportunity to re-order a different and smaller width building (i.e, 23' in width). The customer was made aware there would be a 5% restocking fee since materials for the 28-width building were already produced. Alternatively, the customer was given the option for the crew could field fabricate a small width building (i.e., 23 feet) from the 28'-width building, but there would be no discount concerning the building. The 28'-width building materials would have to be field cut (e.g, bows and side panels) to install a smaller 23' width building. The customer agreed to the second option. The customer directed MaxSteel & the installation crew to install the 23' width smaller building. MaxSteel performed a routine, post installation, customer satisfaction call on 5/18/2021. The customer did not pick up and a voice mail was left. MaxSteel has called the customer numerous times since this date. The customer has never responded until 11/17/2021. To date, the customer has not completely paid for the building installed on his property on 4/17/2021.

We ordered our building on 3/13/21. The initial delivery was pushed back to 5/28 due to delays on their part. This was a 2 day project due to the size of the building. The crew that showed up stated that they could not drive their truck and trailer back to the job site due to a hollow at the middle portion of the newly cut driveway. The crew that cut the driveway in drove the same size truck with the same length trailer through there multiple times with no issue. This driveway was specifically cut to the vehicles this company stated would be coming through to install the garage. I sent in pictures showing that there was over 42' (the length of vehicle + trailer) that was level in between the two hills as well showing the incline of the hills on either side, so they would not bottom out. They then said they would work to find a different crew that may be able to deliver it, which another crew stated they could deliver no problem and we would be hearing back about moving forward aft

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/07/12) */ Dear Ms ******-********, We sincerely regret the perception of MaxSteel Buildings that you've been left with and we would still like to find a way to get you a building. As discussed on the phone with you, we will need to see a video of the driveway, from bottom to top, so that we can see whether another crew can negotiate the inclines and declines during the delivery process. While we appreciate your assertion that the driveway is passable because the driveway installer was able to do it...not all trucks are the same and may have different clearance requirements based on their geometry (not just length). We were not consulted in the cutting of your driveway, so we're not sure how it could have been done to meet our requirements as you claim. We do want to add to the story that two crews were asked if they could manage the delivery and both said the driveway would make it impossible. After the 2nd crew was consulted, you were offered the option of leaving the building for you as a kit to assemble yourself or hire an independent contractor to assemble. This offer was made with a 5% discount since installation is normally included in our pricing. You declined this offer, which left us no option other than to cancel the contract. At that point, the materials for your building were repurposed...so fabricating another building at this time will be done at a significantly higher material cost to us, which is the reason for the higher price of a new contract. Once we receive your video...if our experts determine that the driveway might be passable, then we'll try again with a third crew and will honor the original price even though our material costs have gone up considerably since the first attempt. However, if the new crew arrives and also determines that the driveway is not passable based on visual inspection, we will not attempt it and risk a delivery trailer getting stuck. At that point, we'll have to charge a 5% restocking fee to account for the cost of sending the crew. The only other option is to drop the materials and you can transport them to the job site and hire an independent contractor to assemble. One of our crews might be able to provide that service so that you can maintain the warranty. Please send in the video of your driveway as soon as you're able and our experts will give an honest assessment of whether our vehicles can negotiate the delivery. Sincerely, MaxSteel Buidlings Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2021/07/13) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Thank you for your response. It seems there is some miscommunication on the topics you mentioned. I am not sure who is typing on behalf of Max Steel, but the majority of our communication of our pre-purchased garage has been through the customer service manager, ****. Driveway specifications - We consulted with Max Steel on the size of the delivery truck and the trailer type/length prior to any work being done. Max Steel Offer - **** offered the option for Max Steel to drop off the materials at the entrance to our driveway and us move the materials to the job site with an outside contractor installation but that it would void any/all warranties. 1st Negotiation Attempt: We then offered a solution more inline with our original "binding purchase agreement" which was the following: We were willing to transport the materials from the entrance of our job site and let your crews install but our warranty must be kept intact, your company declined. 2nd Negotiation Attempt: Following the first negotiation attempt, we then offered to make changes to the driveway as an alternate solution, but we requested additional direction on the specific issue, so that we could ensure the driveway was considered accessible by your standards (i.e. hill height, level ground at the middle of hollow, gavel installed, just a clear direction as to what part of the driveway caused it to be considered "inaccessible"). We were told we would hear back, but we were never given any further information or feedback on the specific issue or requirements. The next communication via **** was to say that our "binding purchase agreement" was canceled. 3rd Negotiation Attempt: We followed up with **** to understand how or even why our "binding purchase agreement" had been canceled. We reiterated that we are, and have been, willing to do whatever changes are necessary (within reason of course) to allow delivery of our materials. Then we were told that if we were going to cut the hill down on the driveway, the order would be resubmitted to management for approval. So, we moved forward with an additional $4000 worth of excavating work on the driveway. After this, we get an update from **** who says, as per the owners, the original contract price would not be honored. As indicated in your reply, your offer to honor the original contract specifics is all we are asking. We understand that our property does have hills and elevation changes, as do most larger properties in the southern region that you operate in. With that said, we are actively trying to meet your ever expanding list of requirements. The additional excavating (mentioned above in the 3rd attempt) is still ongoing. Upon completion, we are happy to provide a video of the driveway to go along with the 3 sets of pictures we have already provided. My email can be found on the order form and we respectfully request any/all further communication from your company be done in writing via email or the BBB complaint case #37197892. I hope we can come to some sort of mutually beneficial agreement that is fair to all parties involved. I plan to continue to update this case with the outcome once it has been finalized. Thank you for your response and attention to this matter. Business Response /* (4000, 13, 2021/10/06) */ Dear Ms. ********, I just learned that your building has been manufactured and is ready for installation. Our team will be in touch with you in the next day or two to schedule the installation. We're happy the delivery issues could be resolved and that you'll get the building you've been hoping for. Sincerely, MaxSteel Buildings
