Took truck to get repair originally February 2021. Was told repair for our problem would be almost $1300 dollars. Picked truck to after repair, only to have the same problems 2 days later. Brought it back by 2 other times, couldnt leave it. Its a work truck. They never fixed the problem. Fast fwd to Sept 2021 they still havent fixed it correctly and are now quoting me an additional $5000 to repair!!!!! This is absurd! We paid a **** of over $1200 to get our electrical problem repaired! They are claiming they did a shady repair instead of fixing it right to save me money in the beginning... They literally admitted to doing a shady repair on the electrical system of our truck!!!! They didnt tell me this at all in the beginning. They only said... This is the **** to fix it and i said fix it! Now they are saying it needed those repairs PLUS has other problems. That would be like me bringing it for an electrical repair, them fixing brakes, charging for it, and then charging me again. CROOKS

      Business response

      11/08/2021

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2021/10/11) */ when the truck first came to us, we found several burnt wires in the engine compartment pass ******* harness as well as under the rear service bed. we had seen where the lighting circuit wires inside the cab had gotten hot, but did not see insulation missing on what was visible. we fixed the harness outside of the cab, replaced all of the incorrect sized fuses in the fuse panels, and when we got to a point where the circuits could be activated and checked, we did find that the courtesy circuit inside the cab was connecting with the roof lights. I then called the customer with this news, telling him that we could repair the whole inside cab harness, but that would be a several week process as well as at least a couple thousand more dollars. i told him at this point, the only 2 circuits fuse together were the roof lights and courtesy and that we could run the roof light circuit off the light switch to the roof lights and see how that works. in out prior conversation we discussed how important fuses are and how they protect wires from burning. On a following visit, he came in with the light fuse blown, we could not get it to re blow, so we wired a smaller fuse on a circuit leg from the light switch to hopefully find and isolated the intermittent short. when the customer came back again, the light fuse was the correct one in it, but he had a couple other fuses in the panel that were replaced with larger fuses, and one was a 30amp fuse in the 5 amp gem module feed. The inside cab harness was visually burnt now beyond a simple fix. When the customer came back in demanding his money back, he swore he already paid us $1300 two times already. Not true. My mistake with this customer was not being extra specific on his receipt. Verbally, the repour and discussions went as such where I believed there was clear understanding from start to finish. Consumer Response /* (3000, 10, 2021/10/12) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) My truck is now at another repair facility. They told me that all of this was caused by a ground wire on the underneath of the bed of the truck. It was a couple hour fix. If they had found the root of the problem to start with instead of guessing and spending hours upon hours on things that weren't CAUSING the problem, then we would not be here. I brought the truck in for a problem to be fixed. I was charged almost $1300 and my problem was not fixed. That would be like me bringing my truck in for my electrical issues, them giving me a price to repair the problem, only to fix the brakes on my truck. Their response? Well that needed to be fixed too, but now you need other things fixed. No! I was told the $1300 repair would fix my problem. When i went in to AES to handle this in person I recorded the conversation and i have recorded him saying and admitting they did a shady repiar claiming it was trying to "save me money" if something goes wrong on my tow trucks, i fix it correctly. I dont cut corners. This is my business. I cant have my trucks being down. I was never told this was a shady fix or a temporary fix or that this might not work. Also, lets think about this. They claim they gave me 2 ways to repiar the truck. A shady way and a correct way. If you are doing a shady repiar on electrical wiring!!!!! Wouldn't you put on the customers ****. "Advised customer there is a correct way to do the repiar, and he declined." You would definitely do that to cover your liability, and they did not because it was never offered or told to me! They have lied ever since I originally brought them the truck countless times. They claimed they took the dash out the first time they had it, now they are claiming they never did. They never mentioned a ground problem that this new mechanic found, and no matter what they would have done, until they found that problem, I would have always had problems. I paid almost $1300 for absolutely nothing but guesses. They continue to say we put the wrong fuses in after they did the repair. We did NOT, but lets say for arguments sake we did.... THAT MEANS THE PROBLEM WASNT EVER FIXED. We have found a mechanic that actually knows what they are doing, and just need to get a refund from AES and we can go our separate ways. Business Response /* (1000, 14, 2021/10/13) */ I would like to know how this ground wire underneath the bed of the truck cause this problem. Wires get burnt when a positive wire gets shorted to ground and the circuit is fused larger than it can handle. A ground wire is always shorted to ground, that is its job. Consumer Response /* (3000, 16, 2021/10/13) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Im not a mechanic. I cant attest to what causes what problem or why something fixed the problem. All i know is, he added ground to the back of the truck and repaired 2 of the wires you guys installed. Business Response /* (4000, 20, 2021/11/04) */ I'm not understanding that a ground wire was added under the rear and 2 wires were fixed. Sounds pretty simple when we know the dash harness inside has burnt issues, and when too large of fuses are used, it **** re burn fixed wires. The inside panel fuse panel when it was brought in the last time to us had a 30amp fuse where a 20amp should be in slot #3. It had a 15 amp fuse where a 5amp should be in slot #7. It had a 30amp fuse where a 5amp should be in slot #15. The amp rating of the fuse is for the designated load max capacity of the circuit it feeds. Fuses protect the wiring harness from burning, unless you put in a larger fuse than the circuit can handle. This concept was explained to the customer one the first go around, yet we see it back with these wrong amperage fuses in these slots. The dash harness needs serious repair now.
