My husband and I took our custom Harley Davidson motorcycle to their shop in April of this yr 2023. We needed a front gasket replaced. Our bike was running when we took it there. We told them I was having surgery and neede to heal so take their time. We started calling them at the end of May to let them know we were good to go and to go ahead and get the gasket changed. We called a couple weeks later and was told they were waiting on parts. Everttime we called we kept getting a run around. Finally in July they stopped answering our phone calls. We went to the business and doors were locked. I posted to fb to see if anyone knew where they were and got a call immediately from them. They told us to come get our bike now that they weren't gonna put anymore time into it and that it won't start. We had to go buy a utility trailer to go get our bike( which took all our savings). They wouldn't answer any of our questions about what they did to our bike and why it is in worse condition now than when we dropped it off. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a business in my life and I don't want anyone else to go through anything close to what we have. Thank You

      Business response

      08/18/2023

In response to the letter that I have received with the complaint for this customer. I can state the following facts

-Customer delivered the motorcycle to us on a trailer.

-At the time of delivery the customer did state that the motorcycle had been sitting for several years.

      - We were asked to reseal the top end of the motor (base gasket and head gasket) but also to clean the fuel system as this motorcycle had set for so long.

-The customer did also say that the year of this motorcycle is 1961, however, this motorcycle had been pieced together from many different models and decades of years.

Many of the pieces on this motorcycle are now obsolete (as many of the companies have either went out of business or no longer produce) meaning we are no longer able to obtain the information needed in order to properly get this motorcycle running.

I would also like to note that the the customer had also previously stated to us, that this motorcycle had been to several different shops over the years and were never satisfied with any of the work that had been done.

I would like to present the fact that the customer in this complaint had stated that they did have to buy a trailer to pick up their motorcycle. As I had previously stated in the begin of this response they had delivered this on a trailer. The trailer that they had delivered this with was also the same trailer they picked this up with. The trailer that we seen was not a new purchase.

In closing I would like to know why we should be held responsible for the cost of them purchasing a trailer as there are plenty of places to rent a trailer. We should not be held accountable for the condition of a motorcycle that has been sitting for years before it is brought to us nor should be also owe the cost of a trailer that was purchased. Considering that one can be rented and or borrowed.

      ********** ********

I am rejecting this response because: We have had this motorcycle previously worked on at a shop in NC 3 times and was satisfied everytime with the exception of the last time. That shop never had trouble finding parts for an old motorcycles. That statement is ludicrous. We borrowed a trailer to bring the motorcycle to Eastwood Bike and Rods and have proof of that. We also had to purchase a trailer to pick up our bike because that trailer we previously borrowed was not available and Eastwood called and told us to come get our bike now!
There are no excuses for how we were treated. They said they tried to start it and couldn't get it started. We picked it up and there wasn't any gas in it! Of course it won't start without gas. We need to come to some sort of resolution or we will take it to court.
      Sincerely,

      Business response

      09/01/2023

I am rejecting this response because: the original response that I had sent was rejected.

In order to keep negotiation of any sort open ( which there is no way this would happen) customers should not approach any business for any reason in a hostile manner.

However, proof is a very commonly used word in this complaint, yet the only thing we have ever seen is a receipt for a trailer that was said to have been purchased to pick this motorcycle up for our shop (if the trailer that was used to used to pick this up was new, I would be ashamed to say that I had paid so much). Proof must be provided for the borrowing of a trailer, and that they did not own one before hand besides the new on their property. This should include friends, family, and associates. We can bicker back and forth for the foreseeable future, however, this is a giant waste of my time, along with the complainants time. If said trailer has exhausted the savings of the customer I am more than perplexed as to how this will make it to court. I would like to ask and also demand that the customer that has filed this claim to provide the exact amount that they were charged for this repair. If $100 makes or breaks you....... Then a motorcycle is not for you... In addition I would request that the following be presented as "proof".

-Valid insurance that started before 5/1/23 that shows this was a running and roadworthy machine.

-Non negotiable proof that a trailer was borrowed.

-Also that proof of employment be provided for both husband and wife (as I am sick and tired of people living off of my tax dollars)

Any person that comes into a business and provides their name as "bones" tells me that I am at some point going to have to waste time responding such a claim.

Thank you, (to all that will read this and also possibly post this on social media)
