Consumer complaints allege that after ordering items online from their website and making payment, Sep Sport fails to provide any shipping information. After consumers make several attempts to reach the company by phone or email for an update, they are either provided with false shipping information or are unable to reach customer service and requests for refunds go unanswered.
BBB initiated an investigation into the marketplace practices of Sep Sport and found that this company is not registered to conduct business in Texas and the address advertised on their website indicates they are located at the Allen Premium Outlets, which BBB has confirmed this business does not occupy a suite there.
Additionally, BBB asked the company to describe their affiliation with similar online websites named Sep Sneakers and Sep Walk.
As of April 2023, this company was not responsive to the consumer complaints nor any of BBB's inquiries and the investigation was closed.
BBB recommends the following tips when shopping online:
* Think before you click. Be especially cautious about email solicitations and online ads on social media sites. Many sketchy retailers advertise great deals or trendy clothing that doesn't match the promotional hype.
* Beware of too-good-to-be-true deals. Offers on websites and in unsolicited emails may offer free or very low prices on hard-to-find items. There may be hidden costs, or your purchase may sign you up for a monthly charge. Look for and read the fine print.
* Beware of phishing. Phishing emails can look like a message from a well-known brand, but clicking on unfamiliar links can place you at risk for malware and/or identity theft. One popular scam claims to be from a package-delivery company with links to "tracking information" on an order you don't remember making. Don't click!
* Shop with a credit card. In case of a fraudulent transaction, a credit card provides additional protections; it's easier to dispute charges you didn't approve or get your money back if there is a problem. Debit cards, prepaid cards or gift cards don't have the same protections as a credit card.
