I went to Bam's for a new spark plug and ignition coil. They said it would cost around $900 and take a day to fix. They finished about 4 days later. *** said they didn't actually need to change the coil, even though I had the codes read there and two other separate places. Then bill went down to around $750. When I picked up my truck and began to use it for work, which consisted of driving around 6 hours from West ***** to ******, all of the same dashboard lights came back on that were on the first time within the first hour of driving. This also signified to me my car was never driven around after everything was "fixed", to see if the codes would come back on which I know is standard for auto shops to do. I called as soon as the lights came on to let ***'s know. There are only two mechanics in the area in which I live and wanted them to have the opportunity to make it right- I am new in town and would like a good relationship with a mechanic. They agreed over the phone and told me to bring it in when I was back. Nothing about additional charges were mentioned, so I figured they planned to fix what went wrong since it was never fixed t begin with. When I drove back back I was told it was a few hours of work. They held my car for days again, blamed me for not reaching out, and then charged me more than they did the first time. This time they said I needed three coils. I know ignition coils run around $110, my bill was about $800 after taxes. I never would have returned to this place if I knew I was being charged again. I was okay with paying for more parts if they were needed, and they said it was only an hour and a half of work. Because I didn't have enough money, *** said he would hold my car for 30 days only then sell it for parts. He refused a payment plan, and was only open to it if I handed over the title of my car to him. He also repeatedly said I wouldn't pay him back. When I began to cry, he told me I could stand there all day & cry, he'd refuse to help.
