Visiting and from out of town. Called ahead to check if pool was available for swim. Was told by front desk no swim clubs were using the pool until 11:30. I arrived just before 11:00 and swim clubs were already swimming. I paid $10:00 to be a visitor. The Amarillo Town Club takes in money from Amarillo Independent School District to allow their teams to swim at the ATC. That includes practice and swim meets. No discount is offered to adult swimmers whom are turned away because the pool is being used by various local swim clubs. What a rip off.

We would like to respond to help you better understand our business practices and accessibility for swimming at our indoor aquatics center. The Amarillo Town Club is part of Baptist Community Services; a Texas non-profit organization dedicated to ministering to the whole person. Our mission at the ATC is to promote health and fitness in a Christian atmosphere of love and understanding throughout the Amarillo community. Since we are the only indoor aquatics center in Amarillo, we proudly support all four AISD High School swim teams (plus, multiple elementary and middle school swim teams, many Scout troops, Special Olympics swim athletes, and the Maverick Boys and Girls Club swim lesson program) by allowing them to utilize our aquatics facility. Without the ATC and the support of our members, there would be no way for Amarillo kids and many under-served individuals to have access to this wonderful sport-or even basic water safety. Our members overwhelmingly support our mission and we, in turn, support our members by keeping four lanes available for members to use during the practice time you mentioned. As a guest, you may not have been aware there were lanes available for use during this time or of all the other things we do for the Amarillo community. The minimal negotiated fees with AISD help to make the sport affordable for the School District, support our other water safety education efforts, and allow the ATC to offer lower membership dues which include much more than just the pools. It's truly a win-win-win scenario and just one of the many reasons the Amarillo community has voted the Amarillo Town Club as the "Best of Amarillo" fitness center for 20 years in a row. We do understand that there was a misunderstanding during your visit, and for that, we would be happy to refund your $10 guest fee. Please feel free to contact us to make arrangements for your refund.
