After being a loyal GS Insurance Agency ** *** **** Winston Salem, NC ********** for our travel trailer in 2020 to 2/2024. We paid them yearly in full payment. called because we sold the trailer and had to cancel the insurance 2/16/2024. Insurance up until 2/28/24. I was told it would be best to cancel on the last police date 2/28/24, they lied. Well! I kept receiving bills I owed 70.00, 50.00 to 100.00 to only 11.00 to 14.00 last bill 46.00. They owe me money, they lied and lied . I had a hour conversation with Donna S. 2/22/2024 she promised this matter would be corrected, but it was not. The consumers need to know to never do business with this company. Thank God! I never had a claim. I do not owe them a penny. They owe me a refund.Review from Stacey H

Terrible Customer Service. I spent nearly an hour on the phone and got re-routed to 8-10 different representatives, none of which could help me with a very simple tax form question I had as a beneficiary on an annuity. No wonder they have an F rating!Review from Donna B

Oh my God, I wish I had looked at these reviews before my brother took out this insurance. My brother died in the accident and it's now three months and I still can't get them to pay the $14,000 that we are owed. Their excuse is that they are awaiting medical records which I was told they already had. They also have the death certificate from the CT Chief Medical Examiner certifying that the death was accidental. I keep calling and calling and many times they just hang up on me. I am horrified by this!! We were dependent on this money. AIG is a horrible company and they just don't care. I will probably have to get an attorney. So far we haven't received anything. But I'm going to look into getting an attorney.Review from Dawn W

I'm giving them 2 stars because I did end up getting the payout from my father's policy; however, I am writing this review because AIG does not have a place on their website for me to give them my opinion regarding the VA's they use for customer service. These are the virtual assistants they hire who are located in a different country than the US (typically India) who answer the phone and you cannot understand them and when you ask to be transferred to someone in the US, they will tell you they cannot do it. This is the worst time when a loved one has just passed and you don't even want to make this call and then you get someone who a. doesn't give a crap and b. you cannot understand and they can't understand you either. I realize companies are trying to save money by paying very low pay to VAs in other countries but do NOT use them for your first line people talking to your customers. When a company has "AMERICAN" in their name but you cannot understand their customer service reps, that's a problem. Use the VA's for behind the scenes projects / tasks but not for talking to your AMERICAN customers. If I were searching for life insurance for my family, I would not choose AIG. Unfortunately though, most companies are now going to India / other for their CS roles which is so wrong in my opinion. Anytime I can find a company who uses CS people whose first language is English, they will get my business whenever possible.Review from LeVorn S

AIG insurance is a joke , they are liars , cheats , thieves don not trust them and Racist. I would highly suggest you start saving your own money for your burial needs, They are experts when it comes down to taking your funds, I had a 2o year term policy you would think that being with them such a long time they would have had decent representatives to spend time with you in helping you maintain a good rate then what they originally offered , but no their rep's are racist, condescending and so much more. You may feel you're taking advantage of God's elect people , but one day you'll stand before God almighty to be judged for all of your evil deeds done in your body let's hope you get a chance to Repent. All of your evil will come back on you 1000 fold, just a matter of time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Save your money for your own policies why give it to those crooks racist animals everyone that answers the phone are white not much diverse , you know why so they can take blacks money and give the whites the best deals those greedy dogs will pay dearly for their behavior, I'm not racist I love all people but I hate the sin of people who feel they are better, well breaking news you are not better than anyone, and never will beReview from Valerie S

My husband purchased a life insurance policy in part because he knew my income would be reduced by 2/3 when he passed away. An agent came to our house and sat at the table to discuss the policy. He asked my husband if I should precede him in death who did he want the policy to go to and, at the time he named our oldest son Jeff. The last thing the salesman told my husband is, if he should pass first that I, as his wife should have almost three years of mortgage payments. I had a house fire last year and lost everything. Including any copy of the policy. My husband passed away in November and when I called about the life insurance policy they are now telling me it was written 50/50. Not the way my husband set it up. I asked if they could send a copy of the policy to the address on file and they told me no. Unfortunately, my oldest son hasn’t spoken to us for 7 years. He did not see his dad when he was dying, he didn’t go to the burial or the celebration of life. 1/2 of the policy will be going to him. I have 2 other sons who have stood by me and have been so helpful to their dad and I. If we would have wanted to set up a policy this way we would never have left them off the policy. The last thing the insurance man said was assuring my husband that I would not have to worry and that’s all I have been doing. I’m 72 years old. I don’t know if the fault was the insurance man who sold the policy or who ever set it up. The incompetence of this company is unbelievable. I have sent them everything they have asked for that I have. I do not have an address for my son that was put on the policy but they keep asking me for it. I don’t have any confidence that they will pay on this policy. I would have had more money if I would have just banked the monthly payment I made to them instead setting up this policy. Do not do business with this company.Review from Walter H

I contacted this company for a claim 6 months ago shortly after my father's passing. They have been giving me the run around ever since. They tell me I have to send something to them - no action. I call again and they tell me they have to send something - nothing ever comes. No communication is allowed with anyone with authority. Only communication is with "representatives" whose job appears to be passing along information. Stay away from this company.Review from Jared M

My mother passed away from cancer. She had a cancer policy that paid a death benefit per her policy if she died "at or before 65". She was 65. They have denied this death benefit stating her policy says before 65th birthday. It does not state this. They also refuse to look at the claim paperwork for her hospitalization and diagnosis reimbursement. They stated that a representative called me and left a voicemail to explain this. That is an absolute lie, I received no calls.Review from Melinda

First of all, never use ************ (insurance application broker) that was our first mistake. My husband and I applied through them and they paired us with AIG, but had a mistake with my height and weight resulting in a low BMI that they wouldn’t come back out and fix that led to me not being offered the initial rate. After a few months of back and forth I applied directly with AIG since we were seeking to have me covered before we have our first child which I was currently a few months pregnant with, they had to do a new health exam and assured me it would only take a few weeks for my application to be processed and receive an offer. It’s been almost 6 months and they finally got back to me on my due date saying that they can’t move forward with providing me an offer because of requesting a referral to a dermatologist over two years ago (my insurance plan at that time required PCP referrals if I ever wanted to see any specialists) but I never needed to make an appointment for. I provided AIG with a letter from my PCP confirming the referral was at my request not because of Dr. recommendation but it seems AIG just wants to use that as a reason still (it seems it probably us more to do with me being pregnant because when I applied they said they won’t accept anyone past 8 mo of pregnancy). Please don’t waste your time with AIG.Review from Julie G

Like others I would give a negative review. I have a Cancer policy and Life insurance with them. I was diagnosed with breast cancer and have had to fight a paper game for every $. It is impossible to get help over the phone, I cannot understand what system is in place where they have you hold for 20-40min at a time to look up information? After reading the reviews I can’t imagine what we will go through if someone dies. This is a heartless agency and I did notify the Insurance Commisioner . We will see if that helps. Get copies of everything sent because they will continue to ask for documents already sent. DO NOT USE THEM!!! THEY SUCK!!!
