I had popped in to check on my grandparents and seen they were putting in carpet squares. I had asked for their credentials a man wanted to act like he didn't speak English. I instantly started asking them in Spanish for their credentials they said they don't have any they don't have an e.i.n number either, they refused to do what I asked which was just to please put down the carpet squares with glue, they refused to and in fact laughed hard in my face. I asked them to bring their boss they did and he instantly started yelling in my face telling me i don't know what I'm talking about, keep in mind my grandparents are disabled they use a cane and it got caught on a piece of carpet that wasn't glued down but just taped down. Thus why I asked of they could please glue down the carpet squares before this becomes a lawsuit! Again he kept yelling in my face screaming at me "HOW MUCH DO YOU WANNA BET!! HUH 500$ MY TRUCK!!!" refused to give me his name and business yelled at us that he wasnt going to finish the job, left my grandparents crying when all I wanted was glue... it is not that hard.. I have never in my life had a grown man tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, we put down 1000+ dollars for them not to even finish the job??? Glue was just too much for them to do??? Told us that they are just going to place the carpet over the asbestos.. I am sorry but this business is not no where near professional, rude and lazy! Who hires illegal immigrants who don't have a clue what they are doing whom laugh in your customers face and not finish the job. They are still trying to bill us 1200 for an unfinished job!? Please help us figure this out. The job had got completed by someone else and I would like that money we put down back to pay the man who actually finished the job with the correct tools unlike A-1 floor coveringBusiness response

Business Response /* (1000, 13, 2022/01/25) */ The grandmother of the complainant was our customer. Customer chose her product and signed an agreement to install. (Copy of products specifications is attached.) Our installers began the job in the morning. Later in the afternoon, complainant and another girl showed up at job site questioning our installers, their installation ability and their immigration status. (Attached is a copy of our installer's driver's license-- he actually went to high school with the complainant!) The customer and her husband just sat on the couch looking down. A man showed up a few minutes later and got angry and started cursing and questioning the installation and pricing. This man and his conversations are never mentioned in the original complaint with the BBB! The man cursed at our installers and was getting volatile. The man had one of the girls block our installer's truck. Installers called sales rep and we told them to pick up tools and go outside. Sales rep and owner were on their way to house. Sales rep, along with her husband, showed up and tried to explain the material and its installation. She recorded the whole conversation that she had on her iphone as she felt the situation was getting out of hand. The man said that he was a contractor and that he knew what needed to be done. Sales rep felt threatened and she waited for the owner. When the owner came in the complainant and the man started cursing and yelling about what had transpired so far. This conversation was also recorded. No one from our company ever cursed. The owner of our company tried to explain the product to the complainant and the man. The complainant felt like her grandparents would trip on the carpet. The owner explained that we have installed this product in hospitals, airports, schools, etc. We know for a fact that you can trip on all flooring. Man accused us of being unprofessional and not knowing our job. We have been in business for 50 years and we know our business. The situation ended up getting volatile and we decided it would be best if we left because at this point everyone had lost their tempers. The customer did pay a deposit on the job and was given the final bill on the day of installation. We realize that most of the living room and hall were finished, but nothing in the bedroom. The complainant said that "the job got completed by someone else." On Saturday, January 15, 2022, the CUSTOMER called us and asked us to come back to finish the job! She couldn't assure us that the granddaughter and the man wouldn't show up again. We discussed it and called the customer back on Monday to tell her that we would give her the last box of carpet tile and would void the final bill. We would not be returning because of the situation with her family members. Attached are written accounts from each of the representatives of A-1 Floors as well as 3 recordings from the time the sales rep arrived until everyone left.
