In Sept of 2023, I was contacted by email by a person that told me they were a company that works with one of our local high schools also the high school we graduated from. This person was looking to sell ad space on **shirts and banners to support the high school basketball team. I was told that the **shirts were going to be worn by the basketball players parents at games and that only one company per category would be displayed on the shirts. I would also be sent two shirts once they were printed. I agreed to pay $850 to place my ad on the shirts. Then I was offered a package deal with better pricing in December to sponsor the football team next year. I did randomly receive two shirts that on the back of the shirt there was only my ad. No other advertising whatsoever. This company misrepresented itself as the schools sponsorship and having a contract as they do their sponsorships in house. They mislead me to make a profit and then printed two cheap shirts to send as proof they held up their end of the bargain. The basketball coach has no idea who these people are and needless to say, there are no parents wearing these shirts. The product sent to me was fake and in no way favored the schools colors and how they do their sponsorships. This company is a scam. I have contacted my bank and have begun the dispute process. I want a full refund. The schools administration has told me when they need sponsorships they will contact me directly they do not use a company to do this. This company continues to say they have a contract and they send me an email that they ask some at the school who does not approve sponsorships what their colors are if they like some types of promos that they offer no where in the email does it say ok this is our contract they we will be doing your sponsorships.Business response

While we are disappointed to hear that any customer would be unsatisfied with their experience, we cannot agree with this characterization of our company. We have reached out to our school contact and verified that the basketball items were received and distributed as promised. We have provided a refund of $1100 for the purchase of football season items which were not scheduled to be printed until later this year.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: Yes, we have received the refund for the football season as for the basketball season. The pretended that they had a contract with the school to do sponsorships. Yes, the school did receive a random box of items that they had no clue where they came from since they had not contract with this company. Our banner that was supposedly made and delivered to the school was never displayed. So, we paid for a basketball sponsorship that we never got advertisement for. They sent a vague email to the school asking them about their colors and mascot but do not have a signed contract and the school states to us they do not work with this company to do sponsorships it is all in house. We should be refund for the $800 as well.

In June of 2023, I was contacted by a person that told me they were calling from one of our local high schools. This caller was looking to sell ad space on **shirts and banners to support the high school basketball team. I was told that the **shirts were going to be worn by the basketball players parents at games and that only one company per category would be displayed on the shirts. I would also be sent two shirts once they were printed. I agreed to pay $315 to place my ad on the shirts. I declined the banner. I was offered a package deal with better pricing and declined again. I received an email asking for artwork for the ad. After a couple exchanges, we agreed on artwork and I anxiously waited for the shirts to arrive. I received my two shirts on Dec 9, 2023 and was appalled when I opened the package. The mascot on the shirt was not the schools mascot and the graphics looked generic. On the back of the shirt there was only my ad. No other advertising whatsoever. This company misrepresented itself as calling from the school. They mislead me to make a profit and then printed two cheap shirts to send as proof they held up their end of the bargain. The basketball coach has no idea who these people are and needless to say, there are no parents wearing these shirts. The product sent to me was fake and in no way favored the schools mascot. This company is a scam. I have contacted my bank and have begun the dispute process. I want a full refund and may possibly refer this to our states attorney general for possible criminal prosecution.Business response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.I do not like the wording of their response, because it seeks to diminish their responsibility (or lack of responsibility) and I stand by every word I wrote in my complaint. I would urge anyone contacted by this company to be careful. I got a refund and requested my name and number be added to their internal do not call list so my fight with them is over.

I was contacted by someone claiming to work for ********************* in the art department saying they were requesting support for sports teams from local small businesses in exchange for advertising. I came to find out that the person lied to me about who they were. They did not work for the high school but for a marketing agency they later said represented the high school. On 8/23/2022, I paid Academic Productions $500 to post a banner in the gym of ********************* in ************, **. Academic Productions said the banner would be displayed through the winter basketball season. I went to the school to verify the banner's location. The head fitness coach and the principal of the school said they have never seen a banner in the gym nor ever heard of my company, ******************** The school account and marketing director has never heard of Academic Productions. Academic Productions is a sham. I want my money back in full and also want it made public that this company is taking advantage of people in small communities by breaking the public trust to give financial support.Business response

I am sorry to hear of the unsatisfactory experience our customer had in regards to their banner sponsorship for ********************** We will be processing a refund in full while we investigate this situation with our partner school. I would like to note that a banner was printed and shipped to the school in October of 2022 and a shipping confirmation is attached with this response. Our current contact at the school is the Varsity Cheer Coach who was not among the contacts listed as contacted by our customer. We will be reaching out to her directly to try and avoid any similar issues in the future.
