Specifically, BBB requested Elevation
Alternatives to substantiate or discontinue advertisements on their website
alleging medical cessation claims, including, “Elevation CBD tinctures offer a natural &
effective alternative to many harmful pharmaceutical drugs.”
Elevation Alternatives also advertises several
health and disease-related claims regarding the potential benefits from CBD
products, including how CBD can assist with depression, inflammation, pain and
other skin ailments, sleep disorders and stress relief.
Elevation Alternatives also claims that “CBD is particularly beneficial for
dogs. How so? Well, it reduces anxiety, seizures, pain, and inflammation in
dogs, and it can also improve skin conditions.”
BBB Code of Advertising states: The primary responsibility for truthful and
non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be
prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication
or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to
the advertising medium or BBB.
BBB Code of Advertising also states claims relating to performance, energy
savings, safety, efficacy, or results for a product or service should be based
on recent and competent testing or other objective data.
BBB requested Elevation Alternatives to provide evidence from recent,
reliable, and competent studies or other objective data which may include
scientific findings, FDA approvals, clinical studies, or other objective data
to substantiate the claim or discontinue the advertised claims to address BBB’s
concern.
