BBB promotes truth in advertising by contacting advertisers whose claims conflict with the BBB Code of Advertising.  These claims may come to our attention from our internal review of advertising, consumer complaints and competitor challenges.  BBB asks advertisers to prove their claims, change ads to make offers more clear to consumers, and remove misleading or deceptive statements.

On June 27, 2022, BBB contacted Greenwave Naturals LLC regarding advertised claims on their website:  https://www.greenwavenaturals.com/

Greenwave Naturals, LLC advertises several health benefits claims for their products including:

“That is why we offer everyone a full 30 days to take our CBD products and see for themselves the many benefits of using CBD oil for pain, anxiety, sleep, and many other issues.”

BBB Code of Advertising states: The primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB.

BBB Code of Advertising also states claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy, or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data

BBB requested Greenwave Naturals LLC to provide evidence from recent, reliable, and competent studies or other objective data which may include scientific findings, FDA approvals, clinical studies, or other objective data to substantiate the claim or discontinue the advertised claims to address BBB’s concern.

BBB also requested Greenwave Naturals LLC to substantiate or discontinue testimonials advertised on their website including:

Claim: "Omg yesterday I went and got a small bottle of cbd oil and I can happily say it helped me. I have fibromyalgia, scatitica, degenerative disc, herniated disc and arthritis in my spine and it actually calmed the pain so much! Just worried because I'm almost done with it. The guy that helped us was so nice and knew what he was talking about."

 BBB Code of Advertising states in general, advertising which uses testimonials or endorsements is likely to mislead or confuse if it is not genuine and does not actually represent the current opinion of the endorser. If a consumer’s experience represented in an advertisement is not the typical experience of those using the product or service unless the advertisement clearly and conspicuously discloses what the expected results will be.

 As of August 1, 2022, Greenwave Naturals LLC failed to respond to BBB's requests to modify, substantiate or discontinue the advertised claims.
