Scope: 38' of guardrail and handrail for 9 steps on a brand-new composite deck. Half paid upfront. Ordeal from 9/17/23-1/15/24, at which point we gave up on endless debating and attempted failed repairs to cut our loses. Gaps in communication for weeks at a time. 30+ emails, dozens of phone calls and on-site mtgs.-Replacement of 80% of initial work.-Panel layout was all over the place. Posts and pickets not plumb. Complete lack of welding and installation skills. No supervision.-Post ********* did not meet basic code and load requirements. Plates anchored with two lag s**** on one side of each plate, causing top railing deflection of 8". Short tack welds. Screws rusted within days. All had to be replaced.-Second attempt: metal shavings from cutting wheels to replace shoddy work had been sprayed over the entire composite deck and pool deck. Rushed everywhere. Attempted to charge us for the two trips to remove the rust stains - which never resolved the issues.-Spray can paint bubbles, grind/scuff marks, filler "goop" throughout.-Damage to sod, pool box (used as a welding platform), paint over spray on conc. patio and post, cedar lattice, to name a few.-Attempts to fix one thing caused damage elsewhere.Most costly damage: Crew dragging and dropping panel sections and did not lay down protection when welding, causing spark *****. 30+ planks ruined.Deck Team initially offered to replace but required a release of liability/workmanship. Then offered to drop off materials but we would be out of pocket on labor from another company. DF caused a greater $ cost to repair the decking than the installation job.Finally, Sales Director claims damage could not be proven, and we caused the damage to the deck, rust throughout. We asked for a refund to repair the deck. DF countered: Refund provided if they came to take the entire railing installation out. At that point we recognized what kind of company we are dealing with.
