BBB promotes truth in advertising by contacting advertisers whose claims conflict with the BBB Code of Advertising. These claims come to our attention from our internal review of advertising, consumer complaints, and competitor challenges.  BBB asks advertisers to prove their claims, change ads to make offers clearer to consumers, and remove misleading or deceptive statements. On May 23, 2023 BBB contacted Furniture USA regarding advertised claim on their website https://www.furnitureusa.com/ that its products are "Made in USA".  On August 09, 2023 BBB contacted Furniture USA regarding advertised claim on their other website https://leatherfurniture-usa.com/ that its products are "Made in USA".  BBB Code of Advertising states, "Made in USA" and similar terms used to describe the origin of a product must be truthful and substantiated.  An advertiser must not express or imply that a product or product line is exclusively "Made in USA" unless all or virtually all of the product is made in the U.S. All significant parts and processing that go into the product must be of U.S. origin. That is, the product should contain no- or negligible- foreign content. BBB requested Furniture USA to provide substantiation for their "Made in USA" claims.  As of August 24, 2023 Furniture USA failed to respond to BBB's request to substantiate or discontinue the advertised claim.

On August 09, 2023 BBB contacted Furniture USA regarding advertised claim on their website https://www.furnitureusa.com/, "We offer the best prices for custom furniture online." BBB is in no way indicating that the above claim is false.  If it is accurate, we commend Furniture USA for having the lowest prices.  However, based on national advertising standards, a company should be able to substantiate all of its claims.  BBB Code of Advertising states, "Lowest prices, underselling claims:  Despite an advertiser's best efforts to ascertain competitive prices, the rapidity with which prices fluctuate and the difficulty of determining prices of all sellers at all times preclude an absolute knowledge of the truth of unqualified underselling/lowest price claims."  BBB requested Furniture USA to provide substantiation for their "We offer the best prices for custom furniture online" claim. As of August 24, 2023, Furniture USA failed to respond to BBB's request to substantiate or discontinue the advertised claim. 

On August 09, 2023 BBB contacted Furniture USA regarding advertised claim on their website https://leatherfurniture-usa.com/ which states, "North Carolina Factory Direct to Your Home". BBB Code of Advertising states the terms "factory to you, "direct from maker", "factory direct", "factory outlet", and the like can be used where all advertised products are actually manufactured by the advertiser or in factories owned or controlled by the advertiser.  BBB requested Furniture USA to provide substantiation for their "Factory Direct" claim.  As of August 24, 2023, Furniture USA failed to respond to BBB's request to substantiate or discontinue the advertised claim. 

On August 09, 2023 BBB contacted Furniture USA regarding advertised claim on both of their websites, https://www.furnitureusa.com/ and https://leatherfurniture-usa.com/, which states, "White Glove Delivery plus NO Sales Tax." BBB Code of Advertising states the primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser.  Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast.  Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB.  BBB requested Furniture USA to provide substantiation for their "No Sales Tax" claim.  As of August 24, 2023, Furniture USA failed to respond to BBB's request to substantiate or discontinue the advertised claim.
