At first it is easy to get a policy with Ethos, the application process is easy as they advertise but once you have your policy if you have any issues with your policy good luck, the customer service is the worst. Every time you call any of their customer service phone numbers you will get someone from overseas. You will never be able to talk to anyone in the US and they never know how to fix the problem, its always a system glitch. At the end of each phone call you are told that someone will get back in touch with you within 24-48hrs and that NEVER happens and that is the reason I am the one having to call them so many times. I have a million dollar policy with them and the status is showing ****** for months now and it is paid up to date and they are aware of that but all they continue to tell me is that its a system glitch. God forbid something happens to me and my family will be the ones suffering because they can easily tell my family it lapsed because that is what is showing in their system when in reality the policy is paid up to date. This tells me that this company does not take one's life insurance very serious. Save yourself some trouble and go somewhere else. Trust me you will be very frustrated as I am having to deal with their horrible customer service.Review from Shaunti B

I set up a policy for my mother almost two months ago and the process went fantastic. She is 65 with a disability and this company has been the ONLY company that has successfully helped my mom get a policy that matches her exact needs, and the policy was very very affordable. I'm not sure who is leaving negative reviews on this company (I'm assuming it a competitor) but I had no issues what-so-ever.Review from doug j

I activated a policy with Ethos on 8/22/23 after multiple calls from Ethos reps assuring me I could cancel free within 30 days. I contacted Ethos to cancel twice through support link, once live with a customer service rep, and a fourth time via email. I have yet to receive their required surrender form to sign. Why isnt this form on their Website? Appears to be a delay/stalling tactic to avoid refunding customers.Review from Eric T

Horrible experience, Im 47 in great health and was approved for top tier life insurance through Ethos, no medical exam required. However that's not the problem here is the problem. They are a broker and contract all their administrative staff out of the country (***** or ***************). The language barrier in working with them was horrible. They couldn't figure out how to name my beneficiary as our family Trust on the policy. This went on for 2 months mean while they are billing me a policy premium, how can you bill for something you haven't completed? They sent me the same pre filled/pre populated form for singing 8 times each time rejected by the insurance company they put the policy through after I signed it. I even let them know the form they were sending was not completed correctly according to the English language yet all they would do is argue. I even let them know I refuse to sign the form until I was able to speak to someone on the phone the person who called could barely speak English. After 2 months of going back and forth the process itself was enough to wanna kill yourself. I had to just cancel the policy which they billed me 2 months of premiums for. I have since disputed both charges with my credit card company. Thank God I didn't die a long the way because the beneficiary was never right. The complete incompetence of this company is mind blowing. So much so I'm confident upon death or dismemberment Ethos would not even know how to facilitate a pay out to my requested/named beneficiary or whether the policy was ever in fact in force. If you're getting life insurance for those who survive you do not leave them to deal with Ethos life you will regret it.Review from andrew d

Dreadful experience after almost 2 months of little communication got denied due to a history of "acute arthritis"I have NEVER HAD, NEVER BEEN DIAGNOSED OR NEVER BEEN TREATED FOR THIS artificial intelligence at its worst. This company has technology in their business name. At first I couldn't find the company until I looked at the address and matches to the address found on the life insurance. So this company is registered as a technology company but yet they target senior citizens with fake life insurance.Review from Jason C

I bought a life insurance policy 5 years ago. Insurance was through ******************************** Ethos is just a bunch of middlemen. Originally, my account was set up to auto-pay with a bank card monthly. When I had to get another card issued from my bank due to fraudulent activity on my card (not my fault) one payment was missed (after years of 100% on-time payments made). Ethos (and/or Assurity)'s response was to no longer allow auto-pay as an option and they didn't care about my fraud issues. They forced me to pay quarterly online. I asked to pay by bank draft instead, so the payments could be automatically drafted. I filled out all required paperwork to set this in motion. However, the paperwork was never processed. **************** was always a different agent and they even called me by my wife's name (the beneficiary of the policy) when responding to my emails. Nothing was resolved and as soon as another payment was missed due to the bank draft never being processed, they sent me a letter terminating my policy. No email. No text/phone call (both my phone number and email were on file). In short, Ethos was not only the worst life insurance experience I've ever had but the worst overall customer service of any company I've ever dealt with. It was so bad that I can't believe more people aren't speaking up about similar issues and that this company still has a BBB A+ rating. It makes no sense. I am only leaving this review so future customers can steer clear of this company and avoid more horrible experiences. BUYER BEWARE! I purchased from ethos couple months ago. Very happy with the process. Rates were actually probably lower than I assumed they would be. Because of my age it made it very simple to get the basic insurance that I needed to protect my family. I have received calls from representatives to make sure everything went as I would have liked.
