We purchased a Miele cooktop from Harway Appliances for $4,464.23. Upon installation, it displayed an error code "FE 54," indicating faulty burners. A technician confirmed that the electrical supply was functional and suggested a disassembly of the cooktop, ordering of replacement parts, and a lengthy repair process as the potential solution. Given the cooktop's high cost and new condition, we find this unacceptable. Under the Federal Trade Commissions rules on warranties and refunds, retailers are required to accept returns, refunds, or replacements for defective merchandise, even if their store has a no return policy.Despite multiple attempts to resolve this issue with Harway Appliances, our communications have been met with complete silence or inadequate solutions. Specifically, the retailer has only suggested repairing the defective cooktop, rather than taking responsibility for providing a replacement. Given that the item arrived defective, a repair is not an acceptable solution for a brand-new, costly appliance. This approach by the retailer is both disappointing and unacceptable, as it fails to adhere to consumer protection laws that require the replacement or refund for defective merchandise.The sales associate, ************************* ******************************************************* who had been highly responsive prior to the sale, has since become completely unresponsive. Despite multiple attempts to contact her via email and phone, we have received no acknowledgment or reply.I also contacted the manufacturer, Miele. They informed me that all their products undergo quality checks before being sent to retailers. As such, they indicated that the retailer is responsible for any defects or issues that arise post-purchase.The lack of accountability and responsiveness from Harway Appliances is deeply concerning and unacceptable. We feel misled and ignored after making a significant purchase, raising serious questions about the retailer's business ethics.
