They broke my thermostat. They were suppose to get it fixed before charging me. It is still broken and they took money without my consent

      Hi Cristal,

We want to make this right for you, we have attempted to reach out on a number of occasions and have not been able to get ahold of you.

According to our records we have replaced the thermostat. Although it is rare, it is certainly not up to our standards to damage any property when performing plumbing repairs.

Please reach out to our office at ************ and ask to speak with our General Manager, *********************. He will best be able to answer any questions that you have moving forward.

We appreciate you taking the time to reach out and we would like the opportunity to speak with you again.

I am rejecting this response because: This is not accurate. My thermostat is still broken. You have not attempted to call me. An employee contacted me stating he had become aware management was not helping *** he offered to do it on his own dime. I have the text message as well as a recording of trying to reach out to the business. We were told someone would call us the next day. I would like a full refund of all payments charged.

I contacted Reliant Plumbing the morning of Monday, May 6th. In attempting to replace failing refrigerator it became evident that the cut off valve to the icemaker water flow was defective. I had the water turned off to prevent damage to my home. **** from Reliant came around noon. I assumed he was a plumber for he did not identify himself in any other manner. He listened to my story and asked to look at my plumbing situation from the cut water cut off valve outside into my kitchen. He was obviously inspecting the current plumbing installation situation. He then informed me that box would have to be replaced, which meant cutting into dry wall and potentially cutting the main pipe and installing other fitting pieces. He pulled up an image of the box $116. I informed him that this was 2-3x the cost of the same box I could purchase at a plumbing supply store or Amazon (ie. $17-32). I told him that I would accept that cost. He then provided a non-detailed bid of $1160.00 for the job. I told him that that cost was exorbitant, he said it was an estimate but asked me for a check to proceed with the job. He then said we would return in about 3-4 hours to complete the job. It was only when the actual plumbers arrived, ***** and ***, at 4:41 pm (documented on Ring) to perform the work did I realize that **** was only a salesman and not a plumber. The task required 40 minutes (Ring documented). I was very happy with the work that the plumbers did, and service they provided. I have communicated 16x with Reliant via phone and email in the last two weeks. Only once with a manager. This manager listened to me, stated he would send a detailed invoice and call me in two days to discuss resolution. This never occurred in spite of me calling and requesting to be placed on the managers schedule to discuss. I was informed each time, a manager has been notified and will call you in 48 hours. I have detailed my communication by dates and times from 5.8.24-5.23.24.

I had this company come out and they took care of the immediate problem at my home; snaked and videod the main sewer line. I paid the $ 1024 bill. They were coming out again to do some additional work and asked me to pay ahead of timeanother $ ******* which I did. I cancelled this additional work and was told that I would get a refund because the work wasnt done. This was 3 weeks ago and I keep getting excuses that the refund cant be issued from anyone but the person that handles refunds; they wont let me talk to a manager / owner about it. Please help me get my refund amount back on my Mastercard. They are not even calling me back. They have technically stolen my money and charged me for no services rendered.

3/18 Original appointment was made. Reliant called, got my card on file, and rescheduled for the next day 3/19 Contacted at 730am that a technician was in route Tech arrived and was visibly and verbally annoyed at my chosen replacement faucet. He quoted me a cost of $425 to replace it, which I agreed to and signed.Moments later, he came into the room I was in, and said it couldn't be done, that it would be an additional $800 to change parts, and it would have to be rescheduled.I declined, and he charged me the service fee and left. I never signed for the service fee, but I was charged regardless. I left a review on ******* and was asked to contact them. I did so and was told they didn't know who I was supposed to talk to.

Reliant installed a tankless water heater violating so many different issues that they agreed to refund us $2,500.00. The installation ended up putting our home at risk for damage to the wall the unit was installed on, catching our home on fire because they sat it up to run on natural gas versus propane, and it was also leaking carbon monoxide to leak into **********, and finally, the heater burning up from the inside out. They tried to do the refund using an old credit card, but after finding out the card was no longer valid, they continued to say they would return our money but are not following through. We have called them multiple times, and they are not responding and dont return phone calls. This has gone on for since February 19, 2024, and they have quit communicating with us. We have paperwork showing they owe us a check, but have not resolved or responded to our requests for resolution.

      Hi **************,

      Thanks for your message.

We have issued the refund, and it was taken out of our bank account when the refund was issued. We did investigate this issue to find out about the best course of action. We were advised that the recipient of the refund would need to contact their bank (it was sent to Citibank) to ask about where the money is, and how to get it routed to the correct account.

We understand how frustrating inconveniences like that can be. We wish we could just easily get you the money by resending it, but since it is already taken out of our bank we are unable.

      Complaint: 21461484

I am rejecting this response because:

The attached emails reveal that ********************* is fully aware that we have NOT received the refund.  I have also emailed ******************** at Reliant, requesting an update for when we will receive the agreed upon refund.  Neither one has responded, in spite of the fact that they are both fully aware that no refund currently exists with Citibank or otherwise.

To completely verify, I have contacted Citibank, as Reliant instructed, and Citibank informed me that if a refund was processed on the old card, it would be applied to our current card.  There is no such refund.  Reliant states they made a refund to a card we no longer have.  That did not happen.

We did business with Reliant Plumbing- not their billing service provider Service Titan.  The money they owe us is between us and Reliant- NOT us and Service Titan.  I want Reliant to provide the refund they have promised, and if they are struggling with their provider, that is between them and not me.

I literally just got off the phone with *********************, who verbally acknowledged we are owed $2,500, and he has promised to deliver a check to my house tomorrow.  If that happens and the check clears, I will consider this complaint resolved.  We have hung on to multiple promises from Reliant, so until the check clears, this issue is not satisfied.

I was overcharged $600 on February 12th (charged $1,628.20 and should have been charged $1,028.20) and have not been reimbursed. * On 1/5/24 we contracted with Reliant to replace a log lighter and a main water service valve and PRV replacement. The total was $3,228.20 and we made a down payment of $1,600.00 *On 2/9 I received a call from Mackenzy at Reliant stating the log lighter originally quoted could not be obtained due to a change in code and that he would send a new estimate. I signed the new estimate (Estimate #********, Job#********) in the amount of $2,628.20, later that morning *On 2/12 a Reliant technician (***) completed the work and stated that he was going to charge our credit card the remainder of the amount owed. At 11:49 I received notification that our credit card was charged $1,628.20 rather than the $1.028.20 (new estimate of $2628.20 - $1,600.00 paid on January 5th leaving a balance of $1,028.20) we should have been charged. I notified *** immediately after the charge was made to my credit card and was told that the charge had been done by someone in Reliant's office. I received a call at 12:03 PM from the Reliant office stating that an error had been made and that we would be receiving a credit.*I emailed Reliant on 2/19 to let them know my account had not been credited and received a call from *** on 2/23 that a refund would be processed on 2/28.*On 3/4 I emailed Reliant to state that I still had not received a credit and would be contacting the Better Business Bureau if not corrected. I received a phone call in response to the email from a manager stating the credit was processed on 3/3 and it would take 5 to 7 business days to process. It has now been 7 business days and still no credit.

"Backflow ******************** Up To 3/4" ******************* Up To 3 FT was installed on 11/9/2023 by Reliant Plumbing. On 1/19/24, Reliant Plumbing was notified their faulty labor was leaking. On 1/24/2024, Reliant returned to fix their faulty installation. It took them 5 days to return to complete this repair. They never had the installation or repair inspected or certified. On 2/22/2024 the faulty repair of the faulty installation began pouring about 1 gallon of water/minute. Given the length of time it took Reliant plumbing to repair the leak the first time we called them back and more importantly, the fact that the current emergency was a result of their faulty installation and faulty repair, we elected to have another contractor fix the repair who was also reliably performing other work for us and who also responded within minutes of asking for his emergency assistance. *************************** with **************** and Irrigation performed the final repair on 2/22/2024 and noted the previous repair was in pieces. When he looked into it further, he noted the installation and repair had never been inspected nor certified. We requested the work that was performed by ***** at Heroes to be reimbursed by Reliant Plumbing and they refused. A warranty from a company whose repair resulted in thousands of gallons of water loss bind them to reimburse us for work another company had to perform to fix their faulty labor. If they can't reliably install and repair their own work, the only acceptable remedy is to have another licensed contractor repair the previous faulty work. Further, the fact that they neither had the original installation nor the repair inspected or certified, yet they charged for this is fraud.

On 1/18/2024 we experienced a leak under our kitchen sink drain and contacted Reliant Plumbing for service. A Reliant representative came out at night and provided us with an estimate of $945.56 to fix the issue. The next morning another Reliant representative came to our home to attempt to fix the situation. Please note that the sink drain did not always leak, but only when there was an ample amount of water in the sink. We explained all of the situation to the representative, who proceeded to NOT take our advice and fill up the sink to determine where the leak was coming from. The representative replaced a pipe approximately 2 foot long with PVC (1&1/2 inches in diameter). The sink job took approximately 20 minutes to accomplish at over $945. Unfortunately the sink leak was NOT fixed. On 2/12/2024 we again contacted Reliant Plumbing because the leak was not fixed. We were told that there would be another Service charge even though they did not originally fix the problem. We questioned this Service Charge which seemed to upset the phone receptionist. (There was a delay in timing due to the fact we were on vacation and away from the home) On 2/13/2024, a total of 3 Reliant representatives came out to our home to again see about the leak. They came with a "total attitude", tracked in mud off of their 3 sets of boots on our carpet, looked at the situation and then refused to fix the leak. They stated that they could not "touch the sink" because they might end up buying us a new sink and that they could not be responsible for that. They now said we needed a new sink. They left after approximately 12 minutes without fixing the leak. We subsequently had to have the leak fixed by another Plumbing Company which did not even charge us and the leak fix took under 5 minutes. In recap, Reliant Plumbing is not "Too Reliant". They charged us $945, trashed our carpet, didn't fix the simple problem, were inept and exhibited an unprofessional attitude.

      Complaint: 21348114

I am rejecting this response because of the following: I followed up on 4 different times within the last day by phone with Reliant Plumbing with no result. On Wednesday afternoon I finally talked to *****, Reliant Plumbing Installation Supervisor. Reliant Plumbing taped the call. We basically reviewed the complaint submitted to the BBB, even though I was skeptical that ***** had even read the document. In brief, ***** stated that Reliant Plumbing would not reimburse us for $945 even though they did not fix the problem. At one point during the conversation, ***** mentioned that they fixed all of the pipes under the sink which is a totally false statement. In reality, Reliant ONLY installed a 2 foot PVC pipe for $945 and still did not fix the leak. I encouraged ***** to update his Supervisor and / or Reliant Plumbing's General Manager to the fact that we intend to pursue recourse for the $945 and will also do so publicly. This complaint is NOT resolved and I am not sure if we will hear from a representative of Reliant Plumbing again. Thanks for your consideration.

      03/06/2024

      Hi ************,
We have taken some time to review the details of this matter.
Reliant Plumbing performed a drain rebuild of PVC underneath the sink. When our team went out to check the work, we found that this work was completed to quality standards, and was not the source of the leak. The repair was completed and was part of the initial quote and was signed for by the customer in the estimate. Please see attachments.
We understand that you had a sink replaced between the initial appointment and when the leak occurred. Our technicians found that the source of the leak was the gasket that was not installed properly during the sink installation. Because the sink wasnt something that Reliant worked on, we were unable to perform any work on it, as a precautionary measure for the customer who would still be under warranty from the company or individual who installed the sink.
We apologize for the delay it took for us to gather this information. We wanted to make sure that we understood everything that went on before responding here. We apologize for any miscommunication that occurred during the process.

      Complaint: 21348114

I am rejecting this response because: Reliant Plumbing is either inept, are a bunch of liars, or both. Their most recent response is TOTALLY not true and accurate. Reliant's statement that: "We understand that you had a sink replaced between the initial appointment and when the leak occurred." That is a TOTAL lie. We built our home 8 years ago and the sink has NEVER been replaced. It is the original sink. The Reliant statement: "Our technicians found that the source of the leak was the gasket that was not installed properly during the sink installation." They NEVER mentioned that the leak was the gasket. Instead they told us we needed a new sink. Reliant's policy is that you need to sign the "Estimate" and provide a credit card for charges, before any work commences, or at least that is how they treated us.

This situation was an easy fix. The second plumbing company fixed the leak in 5 minutes and didi't even charge us anything because of the limited scope of the situation. Reliant charged us a total of $945.56 and did NOT fix the total leak. This response from Reliant Plumbing is not too surprising. Apparently they are unethical, money ***** their customers, don't fix in total the simple plumbing concerns and then provide totally false statements to the BBB.

Going forward, it is obvious that Reliant Plumbing is not going to resolve our issue and will continue to provide false statements. What is our next step in the BBB process to possibly seek resolution.

01/28/2024 -I had no hot water and find myself a curious, handy person (former electrician), so I shutoff the power to my electric water heater, shutoff the water. I look for leaks and open up all the panels faces on the heater and do resistance testing on the heating elements, and tank itself. I noticed moisture on the lower heating element and understood that likely was the reason as to why the water heater kept shutting off. I purchased a set new heating elements at ****** for the unit i owned, for $35 and wanted to call a plumbing company to see if they agreed with my analysis. 01/29/2024 Reliant said they'd come check it out but for a fee that if they were to service it would be deducted from the overall cost $89. Well, they arrived and quoted me nearly **** to swap the elements themselves! I go wait a minute, i already have the replacement, i already drained the tank, no way i'd pay you that much, i just bought new elements for $35 at Lowes, this is joke! So we agreed that clearly a new water heater is more "cost effective". originally quoted at ***** marked down to *****. They charged me for the service but that same night someone quoted me to do the job for ***** and the following morning i called to cancel. They confirmed the cancellation, and i get a text that the tech is on his way. I called again, confirmed cancellation was valid. The tech gets here, and I asked him why he was unloading or why he'd come if I'd called to cancel first thing in the morning. He said he didn't get this message and once again we called corporate who said it was canceled. The tech got furious and said I was still going to pay him somehow because he didn't think it was fair that he'd gone to my house that morning(their communication problem as I called nearly 3 hours before he came). This man didn't even do a thing to assist my tank or replace it and they don't want to refund me?

****, we acknowledge the inconvenience caused by our inability to cancel the appointment during the process of ongoing work. We recognize that this particular event may have caused frustration and disrupted your schedule. We apologize for not meeting your expectations and for any inconvenience caused. We will be evaluating our processes and internal communications with our team members for jobs canceled with ongoing work. All jobs are a fixed price, and our technicians are not able to adjust quotes after they are signed. Here, we offered a discount for the bundled cost of the **** Membership, and Water Heater. We have agreed to refund you for the work that we were unable to perform when the job was canceled - all refunds are processed on the same day of the week. We apologize for any inconvenience. We also understand that some aftermarket parts are available at other retailers, but we only install professional manufacturer elements and parts for the best and longest lasting experience. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you.

I was having problems with my hot water heater it was tripping the breaker. I called about replacing it with a bigger hot water heater . I was told that they could fix the heater i had and put a Multiflex Water Heater Capacity Booster that makes a 50 gallon do what an 80 gallon heater does. My hot water tank is less than three years old. So after the plumber fixed elements are electric coils he told me that the hot water heater was discontinued.I asked why then didnt you replace the hot water heater? Why didnt he give me the option to replace it because it was under warranty ... He then said it was a miscommunication.with whom i do not know. He never explained. I never had a conversation about this. I didnt have any communication. They should have figured that out before they replaced the parts. I do not have hot water. It is warmat best. There is not enough enough for me to take a shower. What little warm water i have doesnt last long enough to take a shower. Basically the *** sold me a product and didnt fix the one they were supposed to. They keep saying theyll call me back but Ive heard nothing. *** called over and over again. Since January 2 I have had no hot water. They actually made it worse than it was before the came to fix it.

      Hi *********,

I would like to address the concerns you wrote about here. I am not able to locate your account based on the information provided. Is it possible that you used a phone number other than ************** when booking the call? Is the name for the account under another person's name? I was not able to locate a matching record under ********* or ******. Please let me know.

Can you please verify that you booked with Reliant Plumbing? There are times when customers (and suppliers!) accidentally confuse us with other plumbing companies.

      Best Regards,
