The students was contacted on Friday 6/21/24 to better understand the situation. The student was then contacted again on 6/24/24 to follow up from the previous emails and see if they gained access to their accounts. We are waiting for confirmation from the student if they were successful in accessing their course or if they still would like to proceed with a refund and losing access to their course.Initial Complaint

I had purchased a drivers permit course in march 2022. Since than they have been charging me $5 for roadside assistance every month, a service for which I did not agree and never signed up for. I recently noticed this charge on my card and they are charging this for last 2 years. I dont have a car, why would I need road side assistance. This is a deceived/bogus charge by aceable. They should stop this illegal practice and refund this amount.Business response

The customer was contacted on Friday, 05/17/24, at 10:27 a.m. (central time) on behalf of their course reset and was explained how this had happened. The state of ******** had updated the New York real estate course with newer material.
For this reason, there was a deadline assigned. If the course is not completed by the deadline, it will be reset at no extra charge. Aceable was able to request an extension for the customer from the state of New York commissioner office to extend the deadline date of their course expiration. The customer will be able to pick up where they left off.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: the business neglected to take a proper approach to this matter. If there was a deadline multiple forms of communication shouldve been expressed. I did not receive an email. With etiquette they should have added notifications to their app/website. To make matters worse if there was a deadline they failed to enforce it on my course because the only reason why they noticed that there was something wrong and I was working in the wrong course is because I contacted them a few days prior. If I didnt contact them they wouldnt have noticed their mistake and I wouldve finished my certification. This company was poorly organized and they failed at communicating with the customer and maintaining an organized structure to ensure customers dont go through this.

Aceable scams parents of a $5.00 roadside assistance fee that has been taken out of my account since December, an amount no less than 30 for each month Aceable was taking out the payment without my permission. This type of scamming needs to stop. There is no place to take off the credit card used to pay for the course. I want a refund. I want a way to take the credit card off my account. As of today, Friday, May 17, 2024, at 8:50 a.m. (central time), the customer was contacted regarding the roadside assistance subscription and the charges that were accessed. The customer was reassured about how these charges came about. A confirmation email was sent to the customer confirming the cancellation of the subscription, and a refund was provided for a total of $30.00 for the months that the customer was charged.Initial Complaint

Aceable makes it impossible to delete/cancel your account on their website. If you try to call your call gets dropped and never answered.The roadside assistance fee of $5 is being charged to your account even though i canceled that subscription in March, 2023. Again, nobody can be reached via phone. The online help on their site is outdated and it looks like it's purposely misleading. There is no way to access the subscription section. This is criminal!Business response

As of Thursday, 03/21/24, the customer was contacted via phone, confirming *********************** charges were refunded for a total of $45.00 and that the subscription was successfully cancelled per their request. The customer was emailed a confirmation email.Customer response

I purchased the course on March 10, 2024, I finished it March 11, 2024. I got a 96 percent on the test, I got a message saying to login to the app to access my certificate. I go and login and it states I dont have an account with that email or password. That cant be true because my email has been getting messages with proof and my computer had the information auto saved. I feel like I got scammed.Business response

They automaticlly enrolled me in their $5.00 a month 24 hour Roadside Assistance plan. I did NOT authorize an automatic withdrawal from my account and NEVER wanted or asked to be signed up for this "service."Its a SCAM......with NO refunds after you discover the charges made to your account.Business response

Upon selecting the course, you might encounter a promotional discount offering savings of $40.00.PROMO DISCOUNT Save $40.00 on your course today Get ***** Parent Taught Drivers ** with 1 FREE month of ***************** Services.$5/month after trial. Cancel Anytime.After one month, ***************** Services converts to a $5/month subscription after the trial period. It is crucial to note that failing to cancel this subscription results in automatic monthly charges of $5 until discontinued.Recalling my experience from two years ago, when my son required the driving course, it is evident that the discount terms have evolved. Despite our lack of intent to subscribe to ******** Services, we were billed continuously for 25 months before realizing. Although I attempted to seek a full refund, I was only partially reimbursed $60 out of the $125 charged for the unwanted ******** Services. Consequently, I request a refund for all charges associated with this unsolicited subscription.Regrettably, this experience has soured my impression of Aceable, and I intend to avoid further dealings with them. Fortunately, there exists a plethora of alternative driving courses available, which do not impose monthly subscription charges unexpectedly. It is concerning to think about teenagers embarking on their driving journey, innocently using their debit cards for a driving course, only to become ensnared in such a subscription model. I have attached two documents to this response. Aceable Refund Invoices show that fifteen refunds were issued for the monthly $5 reoccurring charges,for a total of $75. Aceable maintains that they have refunded me $100 total for twenty reoccurring $5 charges. As of this writing this is not true. Realizing that I remembered this happened when my first child took the driving class as well, I went back through all my bank statements and emails. I incurred $30 for six $5 reoccurring charges in 2020-2021 as well. From my documentation attached, you will see I am still owed twenty refunds for $5 reoccurring charges from 4/20/2021 - 11/21/2022 totaling $100.I am also seeking $30 for the reoccurring charges from my first child as well. I would like Aceable to satisfy the complaint by refunding $130 for reoccurring charges that were unscrupulously taken from
my account.
I would also like a public apology indicating that Aceable will change is marketing to offer their services at a resonable rate without the possibility of charging customers for a service they did not realize they were buying.
Aceable, virually every complaint on your BBB listing is for this very same circumstance.Regards,

The recurring $5 per month "roadside assistance subscription" is such a money grab! What a shame. We were generally satisfied with the program until realizing they have charged us $5/month for 18 months now for an assistance program we wouldn't have even known about if we had needed it. For the price we paid Aceable, we could have paid for a full n-person driver's Ed ********Business response

Signed up for the driver's course and was never able to log in. The account was charged and then password resets would not work. When we contacted customer support multiple times, no resolution was provided. Just that "the team" would contact me. They also sent a text requesting information that was not pertinent to the issue. The student contacted us on Jan 4th. Their issue has been escalated to our tier two team. There refund communication will be coming from that team. Questions asked about DOB are related to finding the correct account and tracking down the payment that was requested for a refund.
