Austin *** only cares about your money and not your health and safety! Yesterday, my soccer game should have been called off. We were playing in a thunderstorm. When we started the game, it was raining. By halftime, the sky was dark and thunder was overhead. Even more concerning was the lightning all around us. We could visibly see lighting arching in multiple directions. We asked the refereeto call off the rest of the game. He refused. About halfway through the second half, lighting was arching across the sky overhead in feathered patterns and warning sirens were wailing. We again asked the referee to call off the rest of the game. He, again, refused. Then the police arrived. They turned on their sirens and made announcements that we were playing at our own risk. Neither the staff or the referees agreed to stop the games. We asked. Repeatedly. Referees are supposed to be responsible for the safety of the players. It was evident that this particular referee (and the *** staff) cared way more about their paycheck than our safety. The games should have been canceled. About five minutes before the end of the game, the opposing team's goalkeeper slipped on the slick ground and fell into the goal, twisting his leg. He couldn't get off the ground. We all assumed that an ambulance would be called and the game would - finally - be stopped. But again, the referee made ** finish the game. It was clear that the players' best interest, health, and safety was not at the forefront of the *** staffs' minds. They were actively choosing to ignore the police, the obvious lightning all around, and basic safety precautions. I will certainly be finding a new sports league after this season. I am playing for fun, not to get electrocuted.

Our team relies on available weather services and on-site information in order to make the best judgment possible given the circumstances. ***** weather can be, and often is, unpredictable, and our team works to assess each situation individually.Once a game has started, our gameday coordinators will work with facilities personnel and our own operations team to monitor weather and playing conditions to determine if play needs to be suspended and/or games postponed. Players are never obligated to participate in conditions they do not personally feel comfortable playing in if games are not suspended.We very much appreciate your feedback and thank you for taking the time to express your concerns. We will continue to review our weather and game management policies so that we may always provide the most enjoyable, and safest, playing experience possible.
