Gorman came to my house on May 3, 2023 to service my A/C. The technician did not look at the internal unit, in the attic. He made a repair outside only and charged $333.00.June 18, 2023, our A/C failed. Gorman came on June 19, 2023. The technician this time got in the attic. He immediately noted the filter in the A/C unit in the attic was COVERED in debris. He opined it should have been changed during the 5/3/23 visit. He had to "thaw out" our unit. He spent almost 2 hours and got the unit to cool down. He stated that a part may have to be ordered, since the unit had froze up. He did not charge us for this visit and suggested we seek a refund for the May 3, 2023 and show them the filter.We received a call on June 21, 2023, advising the needed part, TXV and labor would be $5,000.00. We literally were in disbelief.Upon talking to the Supervisor of the ***************** she offered a refund of the original May 3, 2023 call. She advised the technician "checked the drain pan but not the filter, because your husband said he had changed the filter." My husband, who is not an A/C tech, had changed the filter in the house, he didn't know there was a filter in the attic.The technician LIED because he never even got in the attic, May 3, 2023, so he could not have checked the drain pan. When I asked for the refund offered from the May 3, 2023 visit, the supervisor withdrew that offer and said "I offered you credit" toward the $5,000.00 repair.I had another company service the unit today, they show no indication of the *** being an issue. They only showed the unit needed freon. The A/C seems to be working fine and it cost $249.00.I find Gorman's service and lack of standing behind their work product to be unacceptable!I feel certain had the filter in the attic been changed on May 3, 2023, I would have no further issues.H
