Scope of work: French drain installation with downspout connection on the right side of the house to aid the drainage of rainwater to the street. 2 downspouts buried in backyard to drain water away from house. Issue: French drain has not worked since installation and had in fact cause more drainage issues than before it was installed. 2 attempts were made by Acosta Landscaping to rectify the problem without any resolution. 1st attempt: (November 3rd)Observation: Water continued to pool on right side of house and was not draining into French drain. Water continued to pool in backyard next to house by downspouts. Was discovered that the downspout pipes were installed with the black perforated pipe vs. PVC and not graded correctly. Proposed solutions: Remove piece of installed stone edging to allow for proper drainage to French drain input. Dig up and re-trench downspout pipes. Install first 10 feet with PVC then connect to perforated pipe. PVC was provided by myself as well as material to install. Outcome: Water continued to pool on top of French drain with no active drainage. Downspouts drained away but pops *** did not work and were still graded incorrectly. Water just sat in pipes. Overall failure. 2nd attempt (November 10th)Observation: Water continued to pool on right side of house and was not draining into French drain. Proposed solutions: Remove downspout from system as the thought was it was introducing too much water into the system causing backflow onto the side of the house. Outcome: Water continued to pool on top of French drain with no active drainage. No water was coming out of pop up at street. ** Large wait in between proposed solution and failure on April 4th due to lack of heavy rain.I reached out to Acosta both via phone call / voicemail and text message on April 5th and have not had any response at the time of this report.
