******************** brought her Explorer in for us to checkout power steering issue and to check the suspension for any other possible problem. After inspection we found the electronic rack and pinion had failed and the lower control arms were severely worn and needing to be replaced. We gave her the estimate for the repairs, she said she couldn't afford that. ******************* asked if she could supply her own parts and if so how much? We gave her the cost of labor which was $599.50 with the alignment. she said that she couldn't afford that either, so we settled on just replacing the rack and pinion for $375.00 . So she brought us the rack and pinion and we replaced it at which time we found out the steering would have to be reprogrammed, which will have to be done by the dealer for the cost of $160.00 . So we delivered the Explorer to ********************* to be reprogrammed and paid the fee and had it delivered to ********************. The next day ******************** called and said she couldn't drive the vehicle because it had no steering again and she wanted us to fix it. We told her she needed to send it back to ****** to have it re-checked. Haven't heard anything from ******************* till now. Also we didn't charge ******************** for the ********************* fee or the delivery to and from ****** or the wheel alignment.
