This is a complaint about the business practices of Miracle Ear Hearing Aids in *******, *****. On 9/30/2022 I paid $5,419.95 for MEEnergry 5 ITC hearing aids. I also ordered a second charger for $200. Since the earpieces were custom made to fit the users ear canal they were not delivered for several weeks. Upon receipt I immediately discovered that both chargers failed to charge one or both earpieces often. Also, due to the shape and surface texture of the earpieces they had a habit of falling out without notice. These problems were communicated with a visit on 10/28/2022. I was asked to allow replacing everything with a newer model. I was assured that the chargers would work (they did) and that the earpieces would fit better and would not fall out. They were received on 11/10/2022. This extended the trial period to 12/12/2022. Although I was told these replacements were a model upgrade, it turned out that some features such as directional microphone adjustments were missing. The new earpieces had the same tendency to fall out of the ear. While helping a friend move just two days later an earpiece fell out. It took two of us over an hour to find it between the seats in his car. I reported this (again) and was assured that a retainer had been ordered and would be available soon. While visiting with family on Thanksgiving (11/27) the left earpiece fell out. I did not know it had fallen out until we were back home. The smartphone app confirmed that it was lost in ****** *****. Five people searching for several days were unable to find it. This was reported on 11/28/2022 and a full refund was requested. At this time the retainer that might have prevented the loss was offered as compensation. This refund request was repeated on 12/6/2022. Despite repeated notices that this serious deficiency still existed there had been no action to correct it until it was too late. The unique shape and texture of the devices lead to the loss.
