Dr. Sumeet K. ****** performed cataract eye surgery on my right eye July 18, 2022. Prior to surgery, he promised that if my sight was not very good afterward, he would perform Lasik to correct it. I paid an extra $500 for "mono vision" which means my right eye is for reading, and left is for distance. I also paid $230 for office visits, $250 for the surgery center fee, $47 for eye drops. Medicare will not pay for a 2nd surgery on the same eye, so I am also "out" whatever Medicare paid -- in the event I have another surgeon re-do my eye. Dr. ****** was supposed to set my right eye for "up close" and he set it for distance instead. (I saw several doctors after my surgery and they confirmed that he made errors in his calculations. One doctor received copies of Dr. ******** records and by reading those records, he could determine that errors were made.) Once I knew the surgery was not done correctly, I asked to have the Lasik which he had promised, and he said "I wouldn't recommend it, and I don't do Lasik." His advice to me was to "be positive and get on with your life and do the things you like to do." I have called Dr. ****** and written 3 letters to him to try to resolve this issue by receiving a full refund for the surgery, so that I can have corrective surgery done elsewhere. He called me once and basically said "sometimes mistakes happen." He interrupted me a lot and would not accept responsibility for what he did. I have given him a month to respond, and I've called his office and left a message, but he will not return my call. It's now been several months since the surgery. I am hoping you can help me resolve this. I don't want "revenge" or "damages" (such as in a lawsuit) -- I only want a refund so I can go elsewhere and have the surgery corrected.
