      August 2023, when I called Pressley Design I stated my goal clearly: I needed a ********* to add cabinets in my home in a timely manner.I was assured by designer *************************** that Pressley Design worked with a cabinet builder and this could be accomplished. The first steps were as follows:***** would need to see the areas for the cabinets. ***** would then send ******** from ************** the cabinet company) to look at the areas and relay info to the *********.I confirmed *****'s price $150/ hr. no travel cost.When ***** arrived, she looked at the drawings I made for my cabinets and said they would be fine for the *********. We looked at other areas where cabinets were needed. As we went along she asked if I wanted to recover any of my furniture and I agreed some might need updating.***** charged $300 for this time discussing my cabinets. ******** from ***************** got the cabinet information in less than an hour when she came to my home. ******** said the ********* could start work within a couple of weeks. She took photos of my existing cabinets.******** called within a couple of days and said her ********* refused to add cabinets to my existing cabinets. He didn't think it would look good.I called ***** to request a refund since her cabinet connection refused to build my cabinets. She refused to refund the $300 and said I'd need to find my own cabinet builder.I am very unhappy that I paid *************************** for ********************** who then refused to build cabinets. That was the ONLY REASON I used Pressley Design! I was clear from the beginning! I just needed a cabinet builder.I also spoke to ****** Pressley, the owner of Pressley Design, who stated she would have charged for travel expenses in addition to the $300!!!*************************** and Pressley Design did not supply the cabinet builder they promised when I hired them and refused to refund my money. I seek a full refund.Thank you,***********************

      On 8/2/23, *************************** and *********************** discussed on the phone her needs for calling Pressley Design & ***

      Our handwritten notes included the following:
           Consulting
           Adding storage (********* in ******** was too far behind for her to wait)
           Maybe purchase a few items, as needed 
           Wanted help with arranging what she has and adding some finishing touches.
           Possible *************************** window treatment for Master bedroom

      ***** was told the rate would be $150 an hour for design consulting at her home. (***** did not charge a trip charge, as I would have for an appointment over 50 minutes away.

      Based on the phone conversation, ***** took along with her *************************** window product samples.

      ***** arrived at 10:30 a.m. and left at 1:24 p.m. on August 16.  Upon arriving, ***** discovered there was a free standing ** cabinet that ***** wanted to add built-ins to for additional storage/display on each side.  Additionally she wanted storage in every room, as they toured her home.  She also asked for ideas for wallpaper in both bathrooms (asking ***** to select some wallpaper ************** with her), along with quotes for re-upholstery of 2 sofas, 3 ottomans and 2 accents chairs.  (***** followed up with our upholsterer for those quotes and shared them with her.)

      I am sure that within 3 hours, ***** shared her design expertise in all these other areas, as per Peggys request in their phone conversation, and the storage needs.  ***** was not aware of the exact carpentry work ***** wanted until she arrived at her home.  ***** felt that ******* & *** would be able to do the ** cabinet project with their custom ********* and referred ***** to them.   A representative of ******* met with ***** and then sent pictures, etc. to their *********, who then determined it would not be something he was willing to do.  

      At the appointment, ***** took pictures of many rooms and areas in Peggys house in order to prepare to assist her with her other needs (possible re-upholstery, etc.) 

      When I spoke to *****, I offered to find her another cabinet maker in ********** who would possibly be able to do this project.  She said she had already contacted her ******** ********* to do the job and hence would now be willing to wait for him.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      As we went through rooms where storage was needed, ***** asked about reupholstering the couch and adding wallpaper.  I was open to both ideas specifying I wouldn't want anything busy.  That was pretty much the extent of the topics.

      After learning the ********* wouldn't do the job, I stopped in to see if ***** had pulled any upholstery or wallpaper samples for me to approve (she had not done any work on this yet)  and to discuss the cabinet maker dilemma.  After she told me that I would need to find my own *********, I reminded her that was the main goal and the reason I chose her company. 

      This was unacceptable to me. I tried to be generous and split the fee- even though the cabinet maker had not been provided and no additional work had been done (choosing fabrics/wallpaper).  

      What the owner of the business would have charged for the trip is not relevant.

      Now that I have had to devote so much additional time to this matter I would like a full refund.

      Before scheduling a new appointment with.a new client, we determine by the initial conversation if an appointment is needed.

      We would have been happy to share with ***************** our source for re-modeling, as we do with anyone.  The only reason this

      appointment was made was because ***** had determined ***************** had additional design needs and so required an at-home

      design consultation.  

      ***** was not prepared or had scheduled any additional appointment with ***************** when she stopped in at our studio early

      one morning.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      This is a very clear case. In the initial call, I told the designer MY MAIN GOAL WAS TO ADD STORAGE CABINETS.  The designer said she would have to see the areas where the cabinets would go, then send the cabinet representative, and lastly the cabinet builder would come to my home.  

      Designer's cabinet maker refused the job.  When I tried to discuss this dilemma,  the designer said  I'd have to get my own cabinet builder. This was the MAIN GOAL and the reason I chose this company.   While I was open to the idea of recovering tired furniture or adding wallpaper no work was done on that front.  

      The $300 fee should be refunded.
