Hired this contractor 'CDG Construction and Restoration' aka 'Gonzales Construction LLC', whose owner is ******* Gonzales, to do restoration work in our house after water damage last year. ******* worked with our ***************** to release funds for the same, started work in Jan 2023, after requesting us we (myself and my wife) put in deposit for the work. I paid him $33,638.81 in total, via two different transactions on 4/3/2023 and on 4/11/2023 , via bank transfer. ******* did work for a couple of weeks (about less than $2k worth may be) in January. He then started to evade **, stopped the work, citing various reasons: that flooring material got delayed, vendor messed up order, storm caused delays, wife in surgery, etc. ********* he mentioned a plumber would come by, but he didn't show up. And he wouldn't communicate at all when we ask him questions to hold him accountable. We never received the flooring and no work has been done since mid January. He took close to $34k as a deposit from ** (insurance funds) and now says he has to cancel the contract because another previous client served him a law suit (this was about a month ago). We are now at a loss of around $32,000 that he took from us and he never mentioned when he would return those funds or even if he plans to, after we repeatedly asked him to give those back. He no longer responds to us. It appears that we are scammed of our insurance funds, since 5 months have gone by without any work done by him or returning our funds.We then noticed similar complaints on him on Yelp and ****** reviews. The company who referred him to **, also mentioned they received complaints from some of their customers as well.I would like for him to return our funds (at least $31,638.81) immediately.
