I contracted with Safeway Moving for a long distance move from ********** to *****************. The move took place in June 2023. Safeway represented that they provided additional cargo coverage and when I asked for more information on the full coverage - I never received an option to select it. Contract document could not be changed. Safeway then subcontracted the move to ********************* who only offered .60 per pound coverage. I was told that I also had coverage through Safeway. I asked a number of times how this coverage would be calculated - as neither the shipment nor the individual content/boxes/furniture were ever weighed. I was told it was not necessary as Safeway would cover any damage at the replacement value. I asked for full value coverage.I was given instructions on how to make a claim by both companies. I made claims through both channels. The insurance agent for ******************* is CSI. (I am not sure if this is their legal designation - but they are handling the claim for *******************) They are offering a settlement based on "industry standard weight" - as there was no actual weight at .60 per pound. I have to accept the offer before Nov. 10th. I have been trying to get an answer from Safeway Moving about additional coverage and they are telling me my only recourse is with *************** The damage done during the move was extensive and the offered settlement does not begin to cover the real damages. I was never advised that Safeway Moving was subcontracting to *************** and although requested - Safeway never allowed me to request additional coverage.Initial Complaint

We hired Safeway Movers to pack our 1 Bedroom condo in ************* and move our belongings to ****************** **. At this moment, they are extorting ** out of an additional $500 to deliver our belongings. They claim that their truck is too big to deliver into our subdivision, but a truck of that size is allowed. They want to transfer our belongings to a smaller truck and want ** to pay more. Safeway made this decision many miles before reaching our home. Throughout this moving process, they keep adding costs, fail to return phone calls, email or texts and are now holding our belongings hostage. It has been a horrible experience and I want to get our $500 back and warn others to stay away from Safeway. We have now spent several hours on the phone with them trying to get our belongings delivered.
