After researching vertical axis wind turbines for a while I settled on Affordable Wind Turbines out of ************** *****, they were ******** made and since I lived in ***** it made sense to buy relatively locally (4 hours away). I looked at the BBB website and they had been in business for 12 years and only had one complaint and lots of favorable reviews. Online there were lots of different pictures and references to their work so I went ahead and contacted them. We agreed on a price of $4500 for a 3kw wind turbine and that it would take a month to have it ready to be picked up. He sent me an invoice and I sent him a check which was promptly cashed. After 3 months I started to inquire and got a couple of excuses so I drove out to the shop to see the progress. There is no shop. He is a sickly guy (***********************) that looks like he has health issues or a drug problem working in his moms driveway and has a few tools in a falling down garage. There were a couple turbines in beginning stages of assembly (one he pointed to was mine) but I was told by ****** that he couldn't afford to buy the rest of the materials to finish putting it together. In all, he had a 15 or so foot tall pole with a ragged looking (definitely not new) generator on it a a partial frame of a turbine and that was all. The inverter and cables and vane materials were not present. When I wanted to pick up what there was hoping I could salvage something of the money I spent he at first told me I could have it after he cut it into pieces then he told me to bring a gun because I was going to need it if I stepped foot on his property and repeatedly offered threats of violence against me (I have received nothing for my investment). If anyone wants to view the documents he sent me for the quote or the threats he sent me, please reach out to me. Please learn from my experience. I already reported him to the national trade commission and am pursuing legal action (though I doubt it will do any good).Initial Complaint

On 9-3-21 we paid in full the amount of ******** to affordable wind turbines in ************* *****. The agreement was for a 3kw turbine system that would meet all requirments by our city, power company, and homeowners insurance. We were told it would meet these requirments. After paying, we were asked by our city and electrician for legal verification so as to begin the process for connecting the turbine when it arrived. At this point the company stopped communicating with us exept for some very malicious and lewd e-mails. He has stated that the police are afaid of him, and that we pay more than previously asked and that we accept shipment. We told him no, that this is fraud and breach of contract. We have found that he is not lisenced or certified with the ************************** or any other lisencing and certifying agency, state or federal. as he had stated he was.
