    On 08/12/2021 I went to this business which I've been using for the past 10/15 years to have my 2001 Ford Expedition vehicle inspection completed. Here is the letter I wrote to the owner about the incident that occurred. Hi, I came into your shop today for the inspection of my vehicle and had a unique experience. Jonathan was attempting to complete my inspection and called me into the workshop area saying he wasn’t able to remove my gas cap from the probe machine. He said that it was stuck and that my vehicle had failed 3 times but he wasn’t able to separate it. We attempted to remove it together and the cap broke off in the probe. With the base still in the probe and Jonathan stated that he’d have to use a nail and hammer to remove it and I had 15 days to get my vehicle inspected and go to Auto Zone to buy another gas cap. I told him I’d go get the gas cap and come back but wasn’t waiting 15 days to get this done. I brought the gas cap and Jonathan completed the inspection and passed my vehicle. I asked him about paying or sharing the cost of the gas cap and he said that he didn’t break it and wasn’t going to pay any of it! I asked for the manager/owner and he said you wouldn’t be back today. I asked him for your contact information and he gave me the business card and I also asked him to take pictures and document what happened. He did take the picture of my receipt which I’ve attached along with the broken gas cap. I’ll wait for your response to my email with a resolution for this unfortunate incident and appreciate your assistance with this matter. Regards, Don After not receiving a reply to my email request, I went back by the business 08/27/2021 and spoke to the owner who stated that she did reply to my email and when I asked for a copy she stated she didn't have it. I asked her if she was going to address my issues and if she was going to pay for my gas cap? She stated that she wasn't going to pay for it and that my vehicle had failed the inspection test and that the vehicle was too old and the cap need replacing anyway. I explained that since Jonathan was responsible he should pay for the damage that occurred. She stated that Jonathan only made $9.00 a hour and that he shouldn't be held accountable for my gas cap. I stated that since he was the examiner and there's a "no customers allowed in work area" that I only came in to see what he called me for to remove the stuck gas cap from the inspection cable emissions system per my initial email, that I wasn't responsible. She became irate and I just left her business. I didn't get a chance to ask her to provide me with a copy of Jonathan's certificate of completion showing that he had the training to complete inspections. She was also training another lady before she started our conversations.
