The customer reached out to us on 11/27/23 requesting an extension for additional time due to illness. See attached. The extension was granted, and the student is able to continue the program during the next online session (January 8 - February 23, 2024). The student accepted the extension on 11/27/23 stating "Thank so much! That will work". See attached screen shot. At no time were we informed about a lack of response from the instructor or the need for an accommodation. The customer is still eligible to use the extension beginning January 8th. They are not eligible for a refund as they began their online course on 10/16/23 and the last day to request a partial refund was 10/19/23. See attached refund policy.Initial Complaint

I paid $1595 for the course itself, an extra of $89 for the Westlaw access, not mentioning the books with a value of $500 which I paid separately. I paid a total of $1684 to the Center for Legal Studies. I finished Para 1 Course with very good grades uploading every assignment in time. I also had very good grades in Para 2, but one week before the course finished, the manager contacted saying they couldn't provide me with the certificate. They sent an email saying I copied sentences from another student in questions regarding citing the law. The only thing I did was citing law and court cases from Westlaw, which I purchased from them for $89 to do research. They didn't let me file an answer defending myself or have the right of a commission to review the test, they denied communicating on the phone making me feel a bother to them, they didn't answer my emails and denied my certificate. Before I made the payment, they contacted me three times on the phone to convince me that their certificate is valuable for a career, but after paying they just didn't care anymore answering the phone or emails. They also denied to give me my money back. Basically they took my money and never provided me with the service, but instead treated me bad. I waisted 14 weeks doing homework for 3-4 hours a day after returning home from a full time job. I am a paralegal that works full time and a toddler mom, so this was really a sacrifice for me. We had to do three assignments every week, which is a lot of work and I finished every assignment in time. I worked very hard for that amount of money I paid and I considered that as an investing, but instead I ended up treated bad and without the certificate I paid for. I don't wish this time & money loss and emotional distress to anyone. I'll go to court for this matter if I'm not given back my money, the least they can do, cause they can't give me back the time & effort and long hours I put on this course.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2022/03/17) */ We are currently working with the customer for a resolution. Customer enrolled and paid for a course beginning 10/18/21. Course access was received via email and acknowledged by customer. Customer accessed the course online and has been actively participating in the program per the course schedule. To receive a certificate, all assignments must be completed with a passing grade and all course policies must be adhered to. Failure to adhere to course policies may result in expulsion from the program and no monies refunded nor a certificate issued. All course policy violations are handled in writing per company policy. Consumer Response /* (3000, 8, 2022/03/23) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) We still didn't reach an agreement with the course. They don't want to refund the money or give my certificate. The couse drafted very well their policies so that it becomes very difficult for a student to get the certificate or dispute them. It is not an ABA approved course and that's the reason why it is even more difficult to dispute this case, the policy they created, and get my refund or certificate. They're not returning my emails. Consumer Response /* (2000, 11, 2022/04/04) */ Hello I'm writing this email to inform you that I accepted the bussiness response regarding the complaint BBB Case# 91644049 (Ref#XX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-X-XXXX) and I want to close this complaint. Thank you!
