On 3/25/23, my party and I arrived at Waterproof. I was told that the minimum for our bottle service would be $1,200. When I saw the server for the first time, I asked her to let me know how the tab was looking because once we got close to the minimum, I was going to ask everyone to open their own tabs instead of charging my card. At that point, I was informed that the minimum was and always has been $2,000. And even after asking for updates on my bill, no one kept me apprised so we went way over the amount we had planned for this event. We had calculated everything out beforehand to get it all taken care of so we could enjoy our night without stress. This place absolutely ruined that. They sent me an email 30 minutes before my reservation to let me know it had been cancelled. When I called, it wasnt cancelled, but from a place expecting you to pay so much money and provide premium service, it already was starting off poorly. We arrived a few minutes late, but we were not greeted by our server for almost an hour into a 2 hour reservation. I also have a friend who went to this place back in 2021 and her price was changed to much higher the night she showed up for her reservation, too. Im attaching an email between Waterproof and a different friend who I planned with for 3/25/23. We ended up with 20 instead of 16 people, so I understand theres a price difference between the email and my final quote. But to jump from $900 to $2k for 4 people? They only ever talked money with me directly over the phone, even though I kept asking to pay over the phone or digitally before that night. My friends minimum charge was raised $300 when she walked in the night of her reservation, and mine was raised by $800. They would not communicate with me over email, only over the phone. I am not asking for my friend to be a part of this case, only to provide information that this has been done before. My husband and I reserved a table online at Waterproof Dallas (****************************************************************) for Saturday Oct. 22nd, 2022. When we got there that night Oct 22nd, they said they didn't get the reservation and asked us to wait while they got us a table. 30 mins later they took us to a side table and said we had to buy at least a bottle of ********, $350, to be seated and we agreed. Throughout the night, the waitress kept pushing that we added another bottle and spend at least $500, but i told her we were good. Later, she brought a receipt of $660.22 for me to sign which I refused and I asked them to charge me what we had consumed ($350 for 1 bottle of ********). They insisted we had to spend at least $500 (at this point i was not ready to give any tip because of all the manipulation) so i refused to sign the receipt and left. I immediately closed my credit card to prevent the charges but it was too late, they had already charged me $660.22 on my credit card with ***********, Account # ****************. With this being the second time, I strongly believe this is a pattern with this business; intentionally letting down their online reservation so they could unscrupulously manipulate their clients to spend high, thinking they were drunk. The first time we were there, they had equally needed us to buy at least a bottle of ******** for $300 to get a table. Then they turned around and brought 2 additional bottles at $300 each, when I asked them to take them back cause we didn't want them, the waitress had said my friend had ordered them and they could not take them back because they had already opened the bottles. My friend had insisted she didn't request them but i didn't believe her. We ended up spending $900 and I lost my friend. But seeing same manipulation again makes me confirm that this is a pattern with business. I would like to request a refund of $310.22 from Oct 22nd and plus $300 from April 23rd, 2022.Business response
