      I financed my 2018 ***** Traverse with Santander Consumer USA, and everything seemed fine until I reached the end of my loan, only to find that I had a higher balance than anticipated. During the pandemic, I lost my job and faced difficulties starting a business. To manage my payments, I called five times to extend the life of my loan, but to my shock, I still had a debt of over $5,000 at the end of it.Santander Consumer USA is supposed to create a reliable payment schedule to ensure a smooth pay-off, but when I called, they insisted there was no mistake and that I still owed the amount. I spoke to two different representatives, both of whom told me the same thing, so I requested an escalation. The woman who contacted me refused to let me speak. I informed her that I was filing for bankruptcy and wanted to negotiate the balance before proceeding. She firmly stated that Santander Consumer USA does not settle accounts and threatened to repossess my car for a balance that was largely due to interest. I asked to speak with someone who could make a decision, but she repeatedly insisted that they do not settle accounts. I even offered to pay half of the balance as a compromise, but she wouldnt budge. If I choose to continue making payments, I would be locked into paying for another year or more.My advice: Avoid Santander Consumer USA at all costs. Dont rely on them to help you if youre struggling with paymentstheyll act as if everything is fine but wont warn you about the hidden traps. Instead, save your hard-earned money to buy a used or new car outright, rather than dealing with a company that lacks compassion and understanding.

      All the reps provide different answers and when you explain to them they just catch attitude. The worst customer service in world kind. The worst place to ever get a car loan from. All the reps literally

      If I could give a negative review I would Ive been paying for a truck through them for 2 years and Ive been caught up and paying monthly payments and now I look back and all my money I have been paying has only went to a interest rate nothing to the principle. Im seriously done with how they treat customers and I will be looking into a lawyer and seeing what can be done about this. There is no way they can tell you your past due when you have been paying the monthly amount each month but they are applying to a interest rate versus the principle and now they are saying Im 46 days past due!!!

      This company financed my auto mobile because at the time I did not have any credit. When they financed it I was to have 45 days before my payment was due and that was on 6/25/2016. on 8/8/2016 I got a notice that my bill was due on 8/1/2016. My payday at that time was the 8th and 20th. I called to see if I could change the date and was told only this one time. I changed it to the 8th and went for a year and a half. I was laid off along with 2020 and my pay was non existent at times and they put payment on the back end since I had paid well. I then got a job where my pay was the 10th and the 25th and asked if I could change the pay date they said no. it was a struggle and I managed to still pay for the car. Now the car is paid in full and they are holding my title for $980 in late fees. I am so done with them for what they reported to the credit bureau and the ridiculous amount they are claiming for late fees. The most frustrating part is when it got to the last 3 months of my contract an operator asked me why I did not change my payment date and I told her what had happened at the beginning of my loan and she told me that was not correct but that I could have had my payment date changed and it probably would have saved me. I'm furious!! This is not a reputable company!

      OMG!, THIS IS WORST FINANCE COMPANY THAT I HAVE TO PUT UP WITH FOR MY CAR LOAN. AND I'M STUCK WITH THEM FOR THE NEXT 3 YEARS. OMG!

      The company refused to work with me regarding a vehicle loan i had issues paying during covid19. They reported the debt and charged off the vehicle and when contacted refused to restart the payments or remove the debt. They also refused to except documentation when i requested my intrest rates be lowered due to military service through service member relief act. Worst company to do business with period.

      Let me preference this by saying if I could leave zero starts I would, but I cant. I bought my car back in November of 2020ish and everything was fine for first year and a half or so. Then in January of 2022 I missed a payment and it took me until March to get caught up, paid the late fees and everything in full on top of making an additional payment. May of this year 2024 I was out of a job and was planning on doing what I did before and just get my payments caught up when I went back to work. Well on July 12th at 11:30pm my car got repoed out of my driveway, made all of the payments to be current through august thinking thats all I needed to do. Called on Monday and was told my account was closed and charged off as of Feb 2022 and I was never notified. I was able to refi my car and get send a cashiers check to pay off the remainder owed to Santander. They held my check for over 2 weeks before finally applying it to my account but it still isnt showing a zero balance. Took me talking to 10 different people and 3 managers to get answers. ***** never get consistent answers from one rep to another and to get them to give you any info on your own account is like pulling teeth! I contemplated just letting them take my car all together and sell it just to be relieved of this nightmare. They are a terrible company to try and work with and they dont give a s*** about any of their customers! I will NEVER be using them again. I did everything I could do and it still took them 3 1/2 weeks to get the release documents sent so I could get my car back.. it was the absolute worst experience Ive ever had with a lean holder!. Please please please save yourself the struggle and do not get a vehicle loan through them!.

      If I could give this company negative stars I would...worst customer service, unable to get accurate answers and are told something different every time I've called. My car was determined a total loss in May and we are still waiting for Santander to complete the necessary steps so that my insurance company can make the payoff and I can get a new car. They keep the process dragging out and we have been forced to make payments on a car we haven't had in our possession for almost 3 months at this point. I have emailed the title department 5 times with questions regarding documentation that was sent to them over a week ago and have received no response. I know they have received the emails because the customer service rep confirmed however no one is able to provide a status update. If you can avoid it, do not work with this company.
