I opened a checking and savings account with Sofi about a month ago. My father deposited $500 into my account so I could deposit a few checks that I had which totaled $1150. I deposited this money through the mobile check deposit along with my first paycheck from a new job which was $150, making $1300 through checks alone. All of the checks went through and the money got added into my checking account that had a total of $1800. Two days later, I transfered $730 to my father to give him back the $500 he deposited along with some money I owed him. That day, on September 15th, 2023 my checking account got locked. I called Sofi customer support and they had told me that one of the checks I deposited didnt go through and that their internal team is working on figuring out the issue and my only options is to wait. So I waited a few days and my account was still locked so I called Sofi again and they gave me the same answer. I then started to call Sofi every day until they would give me an answer about which check it mightve been or even a time frame for when my account would be unlocked. I got neither answers I was looking for. It is currently October 10th and my account is still locked. I havent gotten a single answer from Sofi, a timeframe or even what check didnt go through. I have opened a new bank account with ***** and called Sofi again to transfer my money into my new bank account and to close my Sofi account but they refused and said the closure I requested got denied. I am at a loss of what to do. I still live with my dad at home, so I am fortunate enough to not need the money. But if I was someone who needed to pay bills, or get grocerys or diapers and I got $1000 of my money locked away, I wouldnt know what I would do. I have had a horrible experience with **** and will never use them again.
