Purchased long block in Sept 2022 Motor was leaking oil and had bad lifter noise. Motor warranty verified with **** at Blains may 10 2023 Motor delivered to Blains for warranty work may 10 2023. I was told work would take a couple of weeks due to being short handed.Motor was checked to find cracked head per ****. Every 2 weeks was promised Motor would be ready. It is now July 17th 2023 and I still have no motor...July 17th I was told once again it should be ready tomorrow sometime. I have not one time had a return call from anyone at Blaines when a return call was promised, even if it was " let me call you back I'm 5 min. Blaines has now had my Motor, leaving me stranded without transportation for 9 weeks now. I have missed a family funeral and my annual vacation. What is a person to do. I am 2 hours away, no way other than placing a phone call to get results. I have been a business owner for over 30 years, am now retired and if someone told me this story I would suspect not all was being told. This is exactly what has happened to me and my mechanic. I am now in fora new long block from Blaines for ******* + ******* to install, and now another ******* to R&R due to the Motor being defective, and 10 weeks in waiting for them to make the motor right. What can I do???

I have yet to receive a resolve on the return of my warranted repaired engine. I have called every day with a different excuse each day. I am now asking for a re instalment of a 12 month ***** mile warranty from the time of delivery. If they are doing what they have been telling me, the motor "will basically a new long block". I would consider this to be a small gesture towards compensation for the extended time taken for warranty work. 12 weeks now and going....

**** has been in contact with **************** over this from the beginning.  We took the engine in with all of the covers and accessories still bolted on it, which was a mistake made at ******** Motor Supply, because all engines are supposed to be returned in the same Long Block form as purchased.  We informed him & his mechanic that leaving the engine in this form is going to cause more delays.  We are extremely short staffed right now and are working hard to get his engine back to him as completely rebuilt.  Again, **** spoke with **************** as late as 8-14-23 to let him know what is going on here.  We do apologize for the delay, and will continue to stay in constant contact until matter is resolved.

I am rejecting this response because:

I spoke with Blaines Engines again today after 3 in returned promised call backs on Friday 8/19, Saturday 8/20,  Monday 8/21. I called again today Tuesday 8/22 and was told they are unable to repair the long block they sold me, because they can not figure out the oiling issue. They have stated they will abandon this motor and now build another long block that will be ready Sept 5. I'm response to the above reply from Blaines motors on ( they have been in contact with me) is only because I have called them. They have returned 2 calls in 105 days so far. I am expecting this new long block to be completed on the stated date per **** of September 5, 2023. With a full 12 month ***** mile warranty as **** stated. Still 105 days unable to work without the only vehicle I own, missing annual vacation, a family funeral, 2 doctors appointments, and depending on friends and Uber to receive groceries. What more do I need to do to get a resolve...

I took a motor into Blaine's to have it rebuilt. I was told If they did the work it would be warranted. I paid the $1529.01. Motor immediately failed I called Blaine's they told me it wasn't warrantied. I took it to them again. March 3 Blaine's called with an estimate of $968.01. I agreed. March 4, I was called and told it was ready. Picked it up it looked like that had not touched it. We picked it up and began the process of installing. It started and it immediately failed again. I called Blaine's and took it to them again. March dropped it off. April 2022 they gave me an estimate of $949. I reluctantly agreed. I have called numerous times and was told it would be ready mid to later on in the week each time. July 28 Arron co-worker called told him they had to order lifters and it would be ready the following mid to late week. I called was told the same a week later. August 11 I called, placed on hold and got disconnected. August 17 My father called and was told they would look into it. August 18 he called again and he was told that this time they were really going to look into it. August 19 dad called again and repeated the whole story to them. They have not called back. This is not the first motor we have done.

Business Response /* (1000, 17, 2022/10/20) */ When we received the complaint, our salesman reached out to the consumer directly and he elected not to do the repairs and picked up the engine. We believe the issue has been fully resolved. Consumer Response /* (3000, 19, 2022/10/24) */ I have not spoken to Blaine's. I picked the motor unfinished and in pieces. So, I am not happy with them. I spent $2500 and got nothing. Business Response /* (4000, 21, 2022/11/03) */ Customer brought engine to us, that he had previously installed a performance cam in, and the engine had failed - lobes went flat due to improper break-in. He wanted us to rebuild it and brought a performance cam to install. He picked this engine up on March 16, 2021... When this engine was picked up he was explained that there is no warranty with High Performance parts, or parts supplied by customer. This engine failed a year later. Brought the engine back we repaired as needed, supplied our cam, checked the heads & spring pressures. Ran in and had all good compression. Explained to customer in detail how to break-in properly. This one was picked up on March 4, 2022. He brought the engine back had failed again.... The problems exhibited extreme overheating, head gaskets blown, and heat tabs melted out. These problems were due to improper installation & tuning. None of which is covered under warranty. Customer was explained this numerous times, and the reason it is not covered under a warranty, overheating & melted heat tabs are abusing. Customers mechanic (father) argumentative and didn't understand why the engine had failed, and did not want to pay to repair. Mr. *********, his father/mechanic had numerous conversations with salesman, and did not want to pay to repair again. So they decided to pick up the engine as is. We sold 17 of just this engine, in between his first purchase & bringing back for repair, 11 had cam upgrades & none of them have been returned with any issues. This is a 70 model 350 Chevrolet, we have been building them since we have been in business, rarely does one come back.

Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2021/10/04) */ We do apologize for not returning the call, that day.. We have also had major cables cut and been without phones off & on for over 3 weeks and not having all lines working either.... it has been very difficult to conduct business here due to the repairs being made by AT&T.... BMS didn't do anything to the block where the alleged gouges are. The pictures of the packaging make no indication or insinuation that it was damaged during shipping, because what the box looked like on outside doesn't show how many boxes and layers the block was in during shipping. We honed the cylinders and decked the block didn't touch this side, it could have happened after it was returned? The block is not ruined, and can be dressed and the main bearings will be installed where the crank will lay on that. The value of the block is not $1,000. They are in abundance here for $100-200 all the time. The photos do not indicate or have anything to do with the actual work that we performed. At this time there really isn't anything else we can do about this.
