North Star Protective Services owner assaulted my child and detained him for using his first amendment; freedom of speech. My oldest daughter was assaulted and shot at with a pellet gun. Instead of protecting her or handling the situation the security lied on my child and said camera measures are not needed for their security. They use that excuse to try to cover up their acts of why they detained my child. The owner first said my child was going to spit on him is why he detained him; i asked a logical question, if he WERE going to spit on you, what stopped him! If you are in front of him and you walked up to him and behind him WHAT STOPPED HIM FROM SPITTING? I called to make a complaint on the company and the same officer who detained my child pretended to be someone else and spoke to me in third person. As the conversation went on come to find out he was the one whom assaulted my child. He lies to cover up his actions as to why he detained my child so that he is not held accountable. He changes the story then to say well he threatened officers. Still cameras are not REQUIRED is what the security/owner told me. The security is wrong but are not required to wear camera footage to show this. But the apartment video footage shows my son being assaulted. He then says my son was fighting. There is video footage of my son being assaulted from behind; he was the victim; by another big child. The child whom was shooting the pellet gun at my daughter. My 12 year old son was upset and cursing because officers maced all the children and he was concerned for his sister because she was the one who was originally assaulted. North Star Protectives Services do not protect. They assault in over victims and bystanders. They have no special training. Just a quick buck.

Hello, I am sorry for the misunderstanding on this matter. On this day I was notified about a big group of kids fighting on the hill of the apartment complex which i was currently working. I responded and I noticed that there was a big group of kids fighting, and upon arrival of the scene I saw one kid with ** spray in her hand and the other kids fighting. I gave multiple verbal commands to cease fighting before deploying ** spray. no command was followed at the moment ** Spray was deployed......after ** spray was deployed all kids scattered due to the ** spray. At that moment her son began to make verbal threats such as, he was going to go inside the house and get a gun and shoot security in the head. at that time in point security radioed for assistance and we proceeded to follow the young man for safety reasons to insure he did not go in the house to get a gun. At that moment the male teenager stopped and started using his first amendment right and stated that he was going to spit on security officers and proceeded to display by leaning in as to show he was getting ready to spit. at that time and point the teenager was detained for his safety and officer safety while attempting to detain him he called out for multiple youth to come help him. at that time and point security was once again surrounded by about 15 youth and ** spray was deployed again.  ****** PD arrived moments later and started notifying parents of the incident. and explained to them that it was security rights to deploy ** spray and detain to prevent any injuries and for officer safety. ****** PD also informed parents that security did not do anything illegal. DP did review apartment video footage and explained to parent that security did nothing wrong.

I am rejecting this response because:   Security is lying to try and cover his actions and to justify why he what he did that was wrong. There were no camera details of this with my child puching his lips. Or of security being surrounded by kids. I viewed the video myself. This is also this security personnels own personal business. To detain a minor for saying he was gone spit doesnt make sense. He either spitted and you detained or he didnt and you STILL detained and put his hands on my child for him trying to defend his sister who was shot at, and because of his language about the security not doing his job and protecting his sister. The security officer used his badge/uniform/weight/**** and forcefully detained my child because he didnt like what he was saying. He said my child was disrespectful. My child knew his rights and what the security should have been doing. And the security failed to do that. The police never said it was okay for the officer to put his hands on my kids or for **** to be used and theres was no arrest. The **** was used on a 13 year old minor; police came out and no arrest was made so how is **** or detaining my child justified. Not even a police report could be filed by security on my child. He either done it or he didnt. Security felt like because he was the adult my child had to shut up when he say shut up or not speak. This is not right. Report to TOPS as well for further investigation.
