Opportunity Title LLC is the title company that completed my land purchase in May of 2022. I researched my tax payment through the Dallas County Tax Assessor and learned that Opportunity Title did not settle the outstanding 2021 taxes. I've emailed and spoken with Kenda ***** the VP & Branch Manager (****************************) multiple times. She has acknowledged that they did not settle the outstanding taxes for 2021. She stated that Opportunity Title would pay the balance and collect the fees from the seller. I contacted her in December because the outstanding balance for 2021 was not paid and the penalty increased. She stated that they remitted the fees and would follow up with the tax assessor to determine why the fees were not applied. I paid my balance for 2022 on 1/8/23. I checked my balance on 3/2/23 and see that they outstanding balance owed by Opportunity Title was not paid and my payment for 2022 was partially applied against the balance. Now penalties are accruing for the outstanding balance from 2021 and the unpaid balance for 2022. I would like for Opportunity Title to remit a payment in the amount of $1,185.37 by March 15th so that I can settle the balance myself. We were contacted by ********** ******** back in November of 2022. I had to do some research on the file to see what was paid and what wasn't paid. The prior officer that worked on this file is no longer with the company so I went back into this file and looked to see what happened. The prior officer did not collect the taxes. So I made contact with the city to see what was outstanding. Since this was in the middle of tax season and the traffic at the tax office to send tax payments to the county between October and December was rampant, sometimes checks get lost in the shuffle and this is what happened. I called them back in December to see if they received the check, they looked and said they didn't. So we put a stop pay on the check, waited 24 hours and re-issued the check to the city. The city sent the check back because it didn't have enough interest for the December month. I added more interest to cover January and sent it back to the county. We were unaware ********** ********** taxes still had not shown they were unpaid till we received another email and phone call. She demanded we pay her directly, which, being a title company, we cannot, I reiterated this to her and told her we will put another stop pay on the January check and re-issue another check to the county with interest covering thru March. The check has been sent again. Please advise what further information you may need at this time.
