I had new windows installed in our house at the beginning of 2022. About a month ago, I noticed a large picture window weeping brown liquid at the bottom corner. I had a contractor open the wall up to find that the window had been installed on wood that was so water damaged that it had disintegrated. I called Windowcraft and they sent someone to look. After inspection they insisted that this was concealed during install because of an extra board covering up the extensive water damage and that this would be proved once the window was out. Windowcraft removed the window and it was abundantly clear, even to the original installer that a mistake was made and the window should not have been installed without notifying me of the existing damage to my home. I could have had the damage remedied while the wall was open and being worked on already. Instead I was told everything went well so I had the window trimmed out and the surrounding walls painted to finish the project. Windowcraft's office response changed to, that leak happened since the window was installed. The type of water damage seen here takes years to occur and the wall wasn't even sound enough to hold the very large window. I paid for the water damage repair on the house, as that is my responsibility, but I would like windowcraft to refund the cost of having to paint and finish the wall a second time.Business response
