On March 6th, 2024 my family of three had lunch at the Whistle Stop Cafe. The total for all services at the cafe was *****. Later, I saw that on the print out, the cafe had added $3.00 to the bill without informing me why. They also misapplied the charge reported to the credit card company as "merchandise" instead of "restaurant" which cost me $2.80 from the cash back offer at Discover card at the time. Their conduct cost me $5.80 in total. This is the type or fraud or incompetence which is too small to legally pursue, but if it is happening to others could add up over time. I would appreciate a check for $5.80 to cover this. Doubt that will happen. It seems like at least a warning to this business would be in order. It is wrong to just add a charge without a clear direct explanation up front. Left message, they did not return my call.Business response

Our resturant has signs clearly posted stating that there is a different price if using a credit card rather than cash. There is a 3 % charge on credit card transaction that is past alone to the consumer like most business. The way the transaction shows up on the billing statement we have no control of the charge classification. We feel that we have not done anything wrong in regards to the charges and have nothing to do with cashbacks given through the individual credit card companies. Thank you for passing alone the complaint.
