Signed a lease for The Katy Depot apartments in March of 2024. Never officially took possession of the apartment in any way. Paid a deposit of $1300 for the apartment. Due to pet restrictions was informed my pet would not be allowed and I would not be able to lease the apartment. Im a disabled veteran and my pet is a registered service animal with the State of *****. When I asked for my deposit back I was told they would keep 85% of the deposit. When I explained my situation to the realty company, they informed me they would discuss with the property manager and resolve the issue. Was then told I would receive 60% of the deposit back. The rest would be kept by the property manager due to them being unable to show the property to potential tenants for a week. As of today I have yet to receive any amount back from the property manager and or realty company who shows the property and is acting as an intermediary between myself and the property manager. When I call the company ** told it will take some time to receive my deposit back. This process and payment was done thru an online payment portal and should in theory be able to be quickly returned to me if they intend to return any of the deposit at all. Would just like this situation resolved and any future potential tenants to be aware of this companys practices.
