I paid iteach in full. I completed all observations. I completed all tests. I changed schools and was sent a one line email that they are releasing me without giving me a certificate. I have offered to do another observation at my new school or old one. Both my schools are invested in my completing the program. Considering the teacher shortage, its unbelievable they will not give me a certificate.

When a candidate enrolls into iteachTEXAS, they acknowledge in their Letter of Agreement to the following:

-"If employed as a teacher, the Candidate must maintain satisfactory active teaching status with the approved school in order to remain in the Program."

-"Participation in and completion of the Program is conditioned on successfully completing the Field Experience according to iteachTEXAS Program guidelines. The Field Experience is considered secured upon the receipt of the Statement of Eligibility ("SOE") by iteachTEXAS. If Candidate does not continue the Field Experience, is terminated, suspended, placed on administrative leave, placed on medical leave or resigns from the school district, Candidates Agreement with iteachTEXAS and continued participation in the Program will also be terminated, but such termination does not relieve Candidate of his or her obligation to pay all fees owed pursuant to this Agreement. Any outstanding balance owed to iteachTEXAS under this Agreement shall immediately become due and payable without demand or offset."

-"It is Candidate's responsibility to notify the iteachTEXAS office within one business day if placed on administrative leave, under investigation or review by the district, resignation or termination from teaching assignment, placed on medical leave or if the ********************** has been notified of wrong doing on the part of the Candidate."

-"Upon receipt of the **** the Field Experience is recognized. The Candidate must remain in the specific placement"

-"In the event a Candidate is participating in a Field Experience and is terminated by the District or resigns the teaching position, the Candidate authorizes the financial institution or credit card company designated in Candidates personal payment formation to pay iteachTEXAS any outstanding balance owed under this Agreement. Any outstanding balance owed to iteachTEXAS under this Agreement shall immediately become due and payable without demand or offset."

-"The Candidate agrees that his/her participation in the Program shall be at will. Candidate participation in the Program is not a property right and nothing in this Agreement shall be construed to create a property interest. The Candidate understands that he/she may be dismissed from the Program at any time with or without cause and that he/she may withdraw from the Program at any time without cause. To be released from the Program in good standing all incurred Program fees must be paid in full."

Based upon **************** Letter of Agreement, which was acknowledged and affirmed on November 15, 2022, with her resignation from her teaching assignment, she violated her Letter of Agreement and broke her contract with both her employing school district and iteachTEXAS.  Based upon her resignation from her teaching assignment, she was released from the iteachTEXAS program.  According to her Letter of Agreement, a refund would not be applicable.

************ may apply and enroll in another Educator Preparation Program to seek her certification.

      04/05/2024

I am rejecting this response because it still seems unfair to me considering not only my extensive teaching experience of 10 years but also my willingness to complete the field experience at my new school. I had changed schools one other time and didnt realize changing schools would result in my not receiving a certificate I had worked toward and earned.

      Business response

      04/05/2024

IteachTEXAS take leaving the classroom and students without a teacher seriously. We explicitly call this out in ones Letter of Agreement and make it clear the ramifications of resigning from ones teaching position.  There is no ambiguity in ones responsibility to honor the teaching contract and fulfilling the teacher of record position.

When did resignation from a classroom occurs, it violates the letter of agreement and program participation.

We can not move forward with certification due to your resignation since you are no longer an active participant with iteachTEXAS.

      Customer response

      04/05/2024

I am rejecting this response because this suggests that a teacher should stay at a school despite the work load and other potential consequences. I was kicked out of the program and my appeal was not taken into account. Again, given the amount of work and teaching and my former principal willing to do whatever it took to help me cross the finish line in my certification should illustrate that I didn't abandon my students in the way it is expressed here. I have a right to the certificate I did the work to acquire. Teachers leave schools for many reasons and to not account for these reasons or allow me the option to continue is in very bad business.

      Business response

      05/14/2024

      ****,

We understand all that teachers are facing and the ever-changing challenges educators encounter.  We ask that teachers in our program honor their commitment to the students in their classroom and not leave their teaching position during the middle of a semester.  Leaving the classroom without a certified educator has multiple ramifications; thus, we place in our Letter of Agreement that our teachers remain in their employed teaching position for their two-semester Internship.  Given the teacher shortage, all the more reason to stay in your teaching position, honor your contractual agreement, and fulfill your responsibilities to the students in your classroom.

iteachTEXAS was notified by your Field Supervisor that you left your teaching position, and we reached out to you. You were allowed to provide documentation related to your resignation. Still, after review, the ************** determined that you violated your Letter of Agreement and were released from the iteachTEXAS program.

It's important to note that the state of Texas mandates educators to teach for an entire school year under the supervision of an Educator Preparation Program to obtain their initial certification. While you have successfully completed your coursework and testing, it's crucial that you fulfill the state's requirements, including a successful one-year internship and the completion of the state's 5 formal observation requirements, to be eligible for a Standard Teaching Certificate.

I will refer to my previous responses citing your Letter of Agreement and our program's policy on breaking your teaching contract.

      Customer response

      05/15/2024

Because I had changed schools before, I was actually not aware that a change of schools would have caused this. I had to do what was best for my son as a single mom and the school I left was ****** supportive and even willing for me to do another observation there after my leaving. My new school was open to this as well. Again, having passed all the tests, done all the work in quick time, and taught for 10 years (I did not need a certification at any school I was teaching but I thought I would learn more about teaching and have more opportunities, which is true), this seems incredibly unfair. I have reported this situation to the ********************** since you are giving me no other options. I also do know of people that have changed schools that you have accepted, which also feels unjust.

      Business response

      05/15/2024

      ************
We handle each resignation on a case-by-case basis, which is why you were provided the opportunity to appeal the immediate termination of your program participation, as per your Letter of Agreement. While you may have changed schools in the past, you were in your Internship seeking your certification at the time of this resignation under the supervision of iteachTEXAS.

You had questioned the duration of your Field Experience and it was consistently stated to you, "You must be observed by an iteach field supervisor 5 times over the 2 semesters while on an intern certificate".

************, we desire to see our candidates succeed. Regrettably, your resignation from your teaching position mid-semester for another job outside the classroom as a teacher has led to certain consequences.   Due to the unexpected nature of your resignation (your principal stated your resignation, "came as a big surprise"), we could not complete your observations and your Internship, as you were moving into a communications role.  This, unfortunately, led to the termination of your program participation, as per your Letter of Agreement.

I am happy to respond to any complaint filed with the TEA. However, you are not in compliance with the Texas Administrative Code and are not eligible for a Standard Certificate since you have not completed all licensure requirements.   I understand that you had to make a personal decision to leave the classroom but it is not without ramifications - you have not completed program and state requirements for certification and this is not something we can bypass.

I would encourage you to seek certification through a new Educator Preparation Program to obtain your Standard Certificate.

      Customer response

      05/15/2024

I am rejecting this response because of the reasons I have stated repeatedly.

      Business response

      06/05/2024

      ************,

To be recommended for your Standard Teacher Certificate, it is crucial to complete all program and state requirements. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend that the ********************** award you a teaching certificate since you did not complete an Internship, a key requirement according to state rules.

As a result of your resignation and violation of your Letter of Agreement, your file with iteachTEXAS was closed.

While we understand your desire for resolution, we must reiterate that we cannot 'give' you a certificate. Our policy is to recommend certificates based on completing all program and state requirements, which, in this case, includes the Internship.

I was accepted into and completed the ****** teacher certification program only lacking one final test. I passed the ***** test for special education and general education. The reason I did not finish the final test for the program was because I became very ill. After three years of medical testing, I was diagnosed. During this time, I had contacted ****** to continue the program. I only had one test left, but they told me I had to start over from the beginning and repay my tuition and all the fees, which I did. I began the program again, while working as a teacher, with a probationary certificate. Unfortunately, my illness continued to get worse. I resigned from my teaching position because I could no longer work full-time. A year later I found out that I had been misdiagnosed. Initially, I began treatment and my health improved. I contacted ****** to see what my options were. I hoped I would be able to work with them to get back in the program considering I had paid them in excess of $10,000. I was told by the Director that I should go to a different program since I seemed to lack of the motivation to work independently in ******. She ignored my health problems and accused me of being lazy. I have repeatedly requested my records and have had no response.

************** was enrolled into iteachTEXAS on May 11, 2009 (see ******************* attachment). She was provided with instructional coursework, training, and test approval for all certification testing (see certification testing). ************** took the ***6 Generalist ***** (expired) and the ***12 ***************** TExES through iteachTEXAS.  She was not lacking only one test for certification - upon enrollment ************** needed coursework, training, supervision and testing.

According to the Letter of Agreement, candidates have 3 years to complete all program requirements, and once in a Field Experience, all program requirements must be completed by the end of the two semesters (see *******************). To be eligible for her Standard Certificate, ************** must still complete all instructional coursework and the Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities (***) TExES. The *** TExES is taken once all instructional coursework is completed.

************** completed her Field Experience at *********************** during the 2014/2015 school year.

To date, ************** has paid $4250.00 in Program Fees for instructional coursework, training, testing, program support, and field experience supervision. ************** has paid $4000.00 in Renewal Fees for additional services since all program requirements were not completed (see ** payments).

The coursework completed is dated and no longer recognized by iteachTEXAS as it is from 2015. The Generalist TExES that has been taken has expired by TEA and is no longer valid.

While I can not issue a refund since services have been provided to **************, I have attached a record of her coursework. If additional documentation is needed, please let me know.  Under state rule, we are only required to retention documentation for 5 years so I may not have all documents but I can provide what I do have.

****** neglected to give me information about my testing which impeded my chance at a teaching job. They have a policy in which the content area of the test , TexES Tech Apps EC-12, can only be taken once while teacher certification is being obtained, instead of the 5 times that the ************** permits. If I had known this information prior to taking the test that I missed by 12 points, I could have prepared. Instead, it left me with no other option than to leave my job that the content test passing was required. I have asked for a refund, but they said no according to the "agreement" that I signed. The whole reason I had to leave the program was based on an error on ******'s part. I have to go to another teaching certification program now, and have asked for credit for the classes that I have successfully passed. I was met with a no, that I need to pay for the two classes that I have already passed, at $500 each. I then asked for a full refund, and was also met with a no. For resolution purposes, I ask that either I receive transfer credit for the classes I had taken, or a full refund. I'm so disappointed, because all of this would have been bypassed if they just gave me the information that I needed.

Information about testing provided to you prior to enrollment:

      Introductory Program Overview:
With new state testing requirements effective January 27, 2020, and new accountability standards for educational preparation programs, iteachTEXAS may provide up to the state limit of five (5) attempts in the content area that has been identified for enrollment. If you are not successful on your first attempt in an identified content area, you will be required to complete remediation. You are encouraged to use available 240 Tutoring access (if applicable) and other resources, including coursework, to assist you in preparing for this exam.
Candidates who elect the $99 monthly payment plan will be provided 240 Tutoring access free of charge. If you are unsuccessful on your first test attempt on a test in an area identified for enrollment, then both coursework and outside test preparation will be required for additional test approval.

You can be approved for a one time test approval in a content test outside of your identified area for enrollment only by completing outside test preparation, such as 240 Tutoring, or completing all instructional courses, 5000-5600. If you are unsuccessful on your first test attempt, in an area outside of the content area identified for enrollment, a second, 2nd, test approval will not be granted.

      Program FAQ:
      Q. I graduated from college a few years ago, and I just am interested in the iteachTEXAS program. I need more time to prepare for my content area test. Do I have to take the content area test as soon as possible, or can I wait a while to allow myself time to study?

      A. Upon enrollment, you may be eligible to test up to 5 times in the content area identified for enrollment. If unsuccessful on your first attempt remediation will be required.

Interview Questions (both questions must be answered correctly to pass the Interview):
      Q.  How many attempts on a TExES content exam in the area identified for enrollment may an iteachTEXAS candidate have?  Answer:  5

      Initial Email for Acceptance:
A content area has been identified (EC-12 Theater) and is posted to your homepage under the Content Area and Testing box.  Your content area has been identified either through a review of your college coursework or testing history, for enrollment based on state and program rule. (These rules are posted for you on your homepage). If your identified area of enrollment does not meet your desired teaching assignment and you meet the state rules that are posted on your homepage in the desired teaching assignment,  please email *********************.  Once enrolled, this area cannot be changed.

New accountability standards for educational preparation programs, iteachTEXAS may provide up to the state limit of five (5) attempts in the content area that has been identified for enrollment.

      Letter of Agreement:
      Once accepted into the program, all registration for certification tests must be with the approval of iteachTEXAS. Test approval is at the program's discretion;

If candidates are not successful on a certification test, candidates may be required to participate in outside test review programs that would provide verification of completion prior to test approval.

All correspondence regarding the iteachTEXAS testing policy is provided prior to the acceptance of any money and is solely based upon the candidates voluntary acceptance of the policy.

Furthermore, you requested that your account be closed without further financial obligation - all this has been granted to you.  Our business model allows for a small payment to be made (you have paid $198) while the larger balance is deferred.  The payments made to ****** does not nearly cover all your cost associated with the program.  All correspondence has been in alignment to your Letter of Agreement.

To ensure I understand correctly - if I can provide a Candidate Transfer Form indicating that 50 hours of training has been completed, then the complaint will be closed and nothing further from iteachTEXAS will be required.  Do I understand correctly?

      Please advise.

I started I- teach assuming that it will be like other alternative program. As soon learned that it was it completely different. My issue lies with her. I did not pass my first attempt on exam at the time I had a lot going on. I tried to register for my second attempt, and realized that I teach requires you to do some form of a study before they will approve. Honestly, being a full-time employee, mother and wife be studying guys are just in convenience there quite a few modules that you have to complete. I reached out and request for some form of help with Payment so Im able to be removed from the program. The lady I spoke to you on the phone, which is in that accounting department stated that she is willing to help me, but I would have to actually go through *********************. She was at no point willing to help anyone financially she just kept making the offer and studying and putting down all the other alternative programs. My last email I asked her for help with lowering the remaining balance I had already paid a big amount on the program that honesty I have nothing to show for. This was the last email she sent me below. *******,

I am happy to try and find a resolution.  I show you have paid an enrollment fee of @$250.00 with the remaining balance deferred until you are hired as the teacher of record.  Please let me know what billing dispute needs to be address.  Additionally, I show you were unsuccessful on your first test attempt on the ***12 ***************** test.  You can have another test attempt, pending completion of test preparation.  I would strong recommend Passage Prep and we can provide you a voucher for free test preparation.

If you are looking to close your account with ******************** and go to another Educator Preparation Program, then you will need to reconcile your balance for services rendered to you.  This fee can be paid by calling our payment department at ************.

We have options, please let me know which works best for you.

Thank you for your reply, the issue like I stated in my above message that I understand about the test preparation courses that you are requiring to be taken in order to get approved just as far as my daily schedule I have tried, and I have not been successful when completing the modules at a timely matter. The issue that Lyds I need to be registered for retesting as soon as possible, so I am looking to withdraw this program in to be enrolled into another program that doesnt require this. With that being said, I have a remaining balance of 350 I asked if theres anyway that I can be lowered so Im able to pay it off and get my notice to be cleared to be in rolled into another program. ***** has refused to help me with this matter, which is why I put in my complaint, I am reaching out to see if anyone can help me with this matter because unfortunately I do not have time to be able to do the modules in preparation. I feel that I am highly equipped in order to pass my second go around like I stated in my previous communication it was a lot going on in my life at that time and I was trying to reschedule my test but unfortunately I was too late to do so so I just had to take it and I was only seven points away. I started with iteach Texas this past Spring. Completed the required courses, passed the *********************, as well as the **********. Took a job at a local high school in Special Education Self- Contained. About a month and a half in, I became very uncomfortable with the non- therapeutic physical contact several staff were giving these high school students. Full body hugs, hand holding, calling a student "honey buns". Telling a student on multiple occasions " I love you" and waiting for it to be reciprocated. I took my complaint to the head teacher, who then took it to Sped admin and the vice principal. Sped Admin backed me, the vice principal did not. Her actual words were "we're a touchy feely campus". I reached out to iteach and was told that it wasn't my call to make, so I wasn't able to set boundaries with staff in MY classroom. I resigned effective immediately, iteach terminated me from the program, and are still requiring me to pay the remaining balance on my account. I've appealed the decision with *** to suspend my certification. Iteach should be ashamed for not backing me up when students were being touched without their consent or their parents consent. Instead, I get kicked out and told I still have to pay$4000.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/12/13) */ Ms. *******, Based upon the email sent to you from Dr. ***** on October 18, 2022, you still are an active candidate with iteachTEXAS. You have not been terminated. Per your appeal paperwork submitted to iteachTEXAS, you requested "please continue to take my fee out of my current account on a monthly basis". It is my understanding the district has ask *** to suspend your teacher certification for contract abandonment. Upon conclusion to ***'s finding, we can evaluate your continued program participation. Given that you are active (pending ***'s review of your certification) and you requested for fees to be paid monthly - I am not sure how to resolve this complaint. If you are requesting for your account to be closed with iteachTEXAS and all future fees ceased, please let me know. **** ******, Ed.D. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/12/15) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I do not accept this response. I only agreed to pay because I thought if I didn't, they would deny my appeal. They have paused making a decision on my appeal until the *** decides whether the *** decides to suspend me or not. I had asked iTeach if I could continue with my three remaining classes through them while I'm waiting...the worst that could happen is I'm suspended and it would be time wasted with those classes. They will not let me take those three classes while I wait for the *** outcome. I would prefer that since everything else is suspended pending the decision from ***, that my payment be suspended as well. I am unable to get another teaching job at this time because of all of this, and have zero income.r If I am not suspended by the ***, I would like to resume working with iTeach to complete my certifications, etc. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/12/15) */ Ms. *******, Given that you have resigned from your teaching position and *** is investigating your certification eligibility, we must wait until they complete their review and release their findings. We do not know how to proceed until guidance is provided by ***. Based on your Letter of Agreement: "The Field Experience is considered secured upon the receipt of the *** by iteachTEXAS. If Candidate does not continue the Field Experience, is terminated, suspended, placed on administrative leave or resigns from the partnering school district, Candidate's Agreement with iteachTEXAS and continued participation in the Program will also be terminated, but such termination does not relieve Candidate of his or her obligation to pay fees owed pursuant to this Agreement." As you have agreed within your Letter of Agreement, your balance with iteachTEXAS is due based on the fact you secured a Field Experience. Right now you are paying your balance on your scheduled monthly payment plan - as per your request. I can pause your payments, but if you are not able to continue with iteachTEXAS, then you would need to pay your outstanding balance of $3,074.56 in one lump sum. Would you like to pause your payments now and if unable to continue with iteachTEXAS, you can make a lump sum payment at that time? Please advise.

I was enrolled with Iteach and upon being enrolled I was given a teaching job online with a company. The charter school I worked for hired me but later dismissed me do low enrollment . I contacted Zach numerous times and he finally emailed me back and made it seem as though all of this was my fault which I have emails to prove it. Later, I was emailing him to see how I can do payments with him and he never replied back to later. He only kept telling me I was responsible for full payment and his attorney would contact me. I tried numerous times to get payments to him before all of his and he would not do anything and made it seem as if the low enrollment during COVID was my fault that the school system let me go because they didn't have enough children. I have all emails from Zach and the school I worked from and all he kept telling me was he had to have proof from the school on the reason I was terminated . This is not fair and he is expecting me to pay in full with a PRN job and attorney fees and all. I even asked about completing the program with him until I can land another teacher job but was denied. I tried to work things out with him but 98% of the time he was not trying to and just kept being up his attorney to me.
