In June 2023, I submitted a claim to State Farm, our homeowners insurance provider, for roof damage caused by hail. State Farm determined the damage was due to wear and tear, but minor interior damage might be covered. Since the potential coverage was likely less than our deductible, we chose not to pursue the claim. The claim was closed. In January 2024, we received a letter from State Farm stating they could not continue our coverage due to unverified repairs from the June 2023 claim. The roof repairs were completed in August 2023, and a written agreement with the contractor was provided to State Farm, but they required a paid invoice, which the contractor never issued. As a result, State Farm canceled our policy on March 19, 2024 at 12:01 AM; therefore, we had to switched to a different insurance provider. In April 2024, I received an invoice from State Farm for the renewal of the canceled policy. On May 2, 2024, I informed the State Farm agent that I was not interested in renewing. On June 19, 2024, our mortgage company disbursed the premiums to State Farm.Despite working with the State Farm agent, they have refused to refund the premiums amount of $1,905, and have imposed various deadlines and requirements, such as providing copies of the new policy, which I do not feel comfortable, since State Farm is the party that decided not to renew the policy, not us. Is there any assistance you can provide? I am prepared to provide further information, including emails, letters, and other documentation, once my case is assigned to a representative.

      Business response

      07/25/2024

Good Afternoon, Insured reached out in February 2024 and stated he wanted to transfer from another agent because he had problems with his account. It also must be noted he had transferred once before 2nd transfer citing problems on his account. I was his third agent in a few years. We reinstated his policy in April 2024 as per his request but noticed he did not want to cooperate with the process State Farm had in place for this service request. We had to get info form his previous agent. He then asked to cancel his policy on 05/02/2024 his request was honored. He then asked to back date his cancellation to 03/19/2024. He then involved an attorney because he would not cooperate with the process on 2nd cancellation. As of today, he has received a full refund for his policy.
