On June 4, 2022 I ********** reservations for Holiday Inn Express in Fort Stockton, *****, online through a website called CCI* Hotel Res. I intended to make reservations for the night of June 12. Somehow, I made a mistake and made the reservation for June 4. I thought it would be no problem to just call customer service, tell them I needed to change the date because I made a mistake, and have them fix the error. It was, after all 8 pm on June 4 and I would hardly be making an online reservation for that night. When I called customer service they said that the only way to change the reservation was to cancel the June 4th reservation and make a new reservation. Unfortunately, the cancellation fee was the amount I would have paid had we stayed the night - $198.79. When I said I just wanted to correct an error I made online, they were insistent that the cancellation fee applied. I wasn't trying to cancel - I was trying to get them to help with a mistake. I appealed the charge with my credit card company but they said I have to pay the charge because their cancellation policy was clearly on the website.
